Behind The Artworks: Firmament - A New World If You Can Take It (2025)
The “doorway” at the center of our album cover to “A New World If You Can Take It” is an infinity
mirror that we created and took to various locations to photograph. There were dozens of versions of the
cover before we settled on the one in a dark, red poppy field. We wanted the cover to elicit the
apocalyptic mood of the album, and draw on its darker themes. One alternate version, taken in an empty
cornfield in the early spring, is featured on the back of the physical release.
An “infinity mirror” is made by facing two one-way mirrors against each other, causing a repeated
image of the inside of the box. We wanted to create a suggestion of something like a hallway extending
further into the sagittal plane of the image than it should be able to, a parallel to the album’s themes of
“endings”, and what lies beyond “the end” - a new world if you can take it.
The cover image was created using a combination of digital photography, digital painting, and
collage, and was done mostly by our vocalist Eric, with some help from Brandon. Though the final result
resembles a painting, the majority of the elements are photos that have been manipulated heavily.
