Interviews About Albums: Bungula - Sub Luna (2025)
In this new interview, we sat down with the Greek Instrumental Post-Rock/Art Rock band Bungula to ask questions about their album, "Sub Luna".
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
Our second LP titled "Sub Luna" is a cycle of 12 instrumental tracks, made mostly in the night time, as we like to say "under the moonlight". They are a call to gaze through the night sky.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
"Sub Luna" (Latin) means under the Moon. It refers to the world below the Moon and the realm of the four elements and changing nature in which our lives are happening.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
Composers of the LP are Jovan Djordjevic and Dimitris Raikos.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
We would pick the song "Sub Luna", as it is the one that sets the tone for the whole album.
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?
Nothing in the form of a spoken message. As always in music, what comes out of the album is more of an experience. Is something that you would rather live than explain.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
Our songs are instrumental, so we have no lyrics, but some titles of our songs are based on poetry.
The title of the song "Earth and Starry Heaven" comes from the Orphic Fragment 32:
"But thou shalt find another by the Lake of Memory,
Cold water flowing forth, and there are Guardians before it.
Say: I am a child of Earth and of Starry Heaven;
But my race is of Ouranos. This ye know yourselves."
Also, the title of the song "Eclipse in the Skull", comes from a Jovan's poem:
"My children's hair I am caressing
under the sun vivid like chestnuts
and the eclipse in my skull
is waving at the wind vane rooster
saying: Look what I am doing!"
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?
Our inspiration is mostly the night sky and the movements of the celestial bodies.
We would like to thank our listeners for the big support for our music.
8. Something to add?
We invite new listeners to give our music a chance. We know that music production is huge and there is a constant -"everyday"- information bombing on social media, but we deeply believe in the uniqueness and authenticity of our musical vision.
