Interviews: Sith'ari

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Black Metal band Sith'ari from the USA. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it, or did it come out like that?

LK: The band name came from me being a massive Star Wars geek. Sithari or Sith’ari is essentially the chosen one for the Sith or bad guys of the franchise.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

LK: Basically black metal that wasn’t really typical bestial bullshit or really complex dissonant stuff that is starting to peak in popularity. I wanted the sound to be primitive, sure, but it was all little homages to Immortal and Bathory. The stuff that we are supposed to be influenced by. Having said that, I didn’t want it to be super pretty like what you see in the black gaze scene. Nothing against any of those bands, but I don’t care for that direction they take/

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

LK: Kind of. Me Pathos, the drummer, and I started randomly talking on Facebook over shared experiences and complaints we had with the metal scene in general. It wasn’t until I had him on a little nothing podcast till we got to know each other a little better, and he told me he wasn’t doing a black metal band anymore, so I brought him under my wing to do Sithari.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

LK: There are too many bands to keep track of these days. But I can say they’re consistently Morbid Angel, Tetragrammacide, Gorgoroth, Bathory, and Belphegor, while Pathos is into Sabaton, Wolfheart, and Cradle of Filth.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

LK: The Midwestern weather, movies, and games. There’s not a whole lot of things to do here unless you like watching paint dry or shoving ears of corn into your ass

6. Where was your last gig?

LK: Nowhere. We just started and dropped an EP like it was nothing

7. Where would you like to act?

LK: Steelfest in Finland. That place looks like a black metal paradise that would be interesting for me as an American to experience one of these days.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

LK: One could wish Quorthon, but we all know that he’s been resting peacefully since 2004. Which is a crying ass shame because that man had loads more music to do and just never got to it.

9. Who not?

LK: Nergal. Behemoth has been in a massive free fall since Evangelion. I wish he would go back to that sound but he’s going to want to keep printing money and doing cringe hipster shit these days and turn his back on the faithful fans that made his band relevant in the first place.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

LK: Not really. I personally have the confidence to either make people laugh or cheer. Either way, it’s going to be a memorable success, right? My tip is to ask a girl out on a date. If you can do that, you won’t believe how easy it gets from there, honestly.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

LK: Bathory… just like every other black metal band in existence. Immortal, Sargeist, and this band from Chicago called FIN. FIN is no longer around, which makes me sad, but holy hell did their albums absolutely DESTROY so many different bands in the USBM scene.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

LK: Do you have any weird shit like a signed setlist or signed stage prop I could have for my man cave?

13. What do you think of your fans?

LK: They’re fine. They seem to enjoy the EP, and that is enough for me to keep me content

14. What do you think of our site?

LK: Well, you guys feature this French band called Merrimack, which I personally enjoy, so I can’t complain.

15. Something to add?

LK: Be sure to pre-order CDs coming out on our Bandcamp. They get released on May 30th https://ethanolstudio.bandcamp.com/album/before-the-dawn-2
