Behind The Artworks: Reflection - The Battles I Have Won (2025)
While recording the album, we had many ideas for the cover, but we are not
illustrators, nor do we wish to be!
One thing was certain: we wanted a real cover—handmade by a real artist, not a
computer. A painting.
We immediately thought of Alex Vasilopoulos—a friend with experience in this kind
of art (though not in album covers!).
We sent him the title track and lyrics, and asked him to take his time and think it
through.
To our surprise, he called the next day, full of excitement:
“I’ve got it!”
But he gave us no clue about what “it” was!
When you choose the handmade route, there’s no “undo.” So we were extremely
curious.
Two weeks later, he sent us a rough black-and-white sketch—done entirely in
pencil—which is now the back cover of the CD layout.
He then told us, “That’s the one. But I have another one, probably for the front
cover!”
We were already impressed by the first draft, so we couldn’t imagine what he meant.
Then, a week later, he sent us the full sketch: The Warrior on His Furious Horse.
We were blown away.
Phivos from our label was just as excited.
We gave him the green light to proceed.
By early April, we had the final canvas in our hands.
Astonishing.
The layout was handled, as always, by our beloved and trusted George Zaharoglou,
who has worked on all our past releases.
Now we wait eagerly to see the final result on vinyl and CD—still no copies in our
hands yet!
