Behind The Artworks: Slow Draw - The People's Department Of Governmental Checks & Balances (2025)

The initial concept for the album name is what led to the artwork that I came up with. In response to cybertruck bro creating his own governmental department, I figured we had free reign to do one for ourselves and illustrate that it is never too late to take things back. The guillotine seemed the best symbol for our department. Though, a friend suggested that a meteor might be an even better approach. I disagree, as it doesn’t seem as personable, or rather satisfying as seeing it happen.

I can’t take full credit for the image, as I searched online for the right angle and appropriate grittiness. I altered the image and made it more two-dimensional than the original. I wanted it to have that 18th century feel and be easily converted into a stamp. I did have a stamp made, and that is how I made the cassette version of the album, good ‘ole DIY skills! The internet and CD images have a yellowish tinted background to make it look a bit like old paper. The CD disk image gracefully puts the guillotine opening on the center of the disc. Watch your finger!
