Interviews About Albums: Autoscopy - The Third Man Factor (2025)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Polish Industrial Metal band Autoscopy to ask questions about their album, "The Third Man Factor".

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

Hello. The album is our debut, so I’m very happy that it’s out as it marks a new phase in my life. Musically, it’s a form of continuation or progress from my previous projects, but there are other meanings in it for me. It’s dark, gritty, but to me it’s a way to work through some of my stuff.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

The Third Man Factor or Syndrome is actually a psychological phenomenon where people who are under an immense amount of stress or during a life-threatening situation, they have a feeling of someone/something that is watching over him/her and provides comfort or guidance in that situation. It’s a metaphor for the idea of seeking help whenever you feel down or at a point in life where you don’t know what to do with yourself. Remember, there’s always someone who can help.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

All the songs were written by me - Wojciech Krol, but we’ve worked closely with Wojciech Szczawinski, who played most of the bass lines and some guitars, as well as Kuba Sawicki, who not only provided some killer guitar riffs but also made the album sound the way it does.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

I would choose „Till Death Do Us Part”. It’s not a standard metal/industrial song as it’s not a 4x4 rhythm. Lyrically, this song also connects with me as it talks about human relations, communication, and how we all perceive reality.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

As mentioned above, most of the songs are not really light-hearted, but I do believe that they have a positive outcome. They talk about wanting to communicate, change, and understand one another. Basically, and I’ll stress that as much as I can - if you struggle, communicate!

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

"It seems there are different realities, existing side by side - always clashing, always fighting - till death do us part.” As mentioned above, this song talks about the struggles of how we all communicate. We see the same things from different perspective,s which sometimes makes us think we think/see different things. We need to start talking to each other to start understanding what the other side means.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

From the topics - it’s everything that surrounds us lately. The amount of bias, hate, and fear that people feel towards each other around the world. What social media has done to people is just very sad. As it comes to music-wise, I’ve been listening to quite a lot of Nine Inch Nails, Talking Heads, and a lot of modern pop, which I guess you don’t really hear here...

8. Something to add?

I would just like to thank you for the interest in the album and us as a band. It means a lot, especially considering that we’re a new thing. I hope that everyone who stumbles upon us finds something interesting to them. I appreciate every message I get, every interaction and support we’ve received so far nad hope we’ll keep on going. Stay safe!
