Interviews About Albums: Pentesilea Road - Sonnets From The Drowsiness (2025)
In this new interview, we sat down with the Heavy Metal/Progressive Metal band Pentesilea Road to ask questions about their album, "Sonnets From The Drowsiness".
1. What can you say about this new CD?
Hi all, Vito here. First of all, thanks a lot for allowing this conversation!
I think the new release represents an evolution in our sound. It builds on the foundation laid
by our previous work while exploring new musical and lyrical directions. Each track was carefully crafted to create
a cohesive yet diverse mood...
the idea was to drag the listener on a journey that lies between the dream and the reality.
2. What is the meaning of the CD name?
The title reflects a central theme of the album: exploring the world of lucid dreaming and its
counterpart, whether it's daydreaming or simple reality.
Whether it's a philosophical concept, a personal journey, or an abstract idea, we like the idea
that it's up to the listener to decide.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD?
As for the first album, I have laid down the demo of the whole thing; however, we have spent
a lot of time arranging as a band. I think everyone contributed
to the overall sound, to a certain extent.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
Each song brings something unique to the album, making it difficult to choose just one.
Probably the 4 singles, they were chosen for a reason...Pulse, The geometry of Nothing,
Worlds Apart, and Echo of Silence.
5. Is there a special message on this CD? If there is, what is it?
Yes, the album carries a central message that explores themes such as lucid dreams,
introspection, while keeping alive the connection to the real world:
see for example the recurring referral to the panopticon, or to themes that were explored in
the first album: the travel, in space and time and the inner travel.
The lyrics and arrangements were designed to create an immersive experience, encouraging
listeners to engage with the deeper meanings behind the music and possibly to adduce their own interpretation...
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
I think the whole thing is worth reading: it is a structured journey, although we don't have a
concept in the strict sense.
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends,
family, someone you'd love to thank especially?
Musically, the album draws inspiration from a range of genres, artists, and especially from
personal experiences.
I'd like to thank my bandmates: they did a fantastic job! And, believe me, it's been quite some
work to craft such a long and complex album...
8. Something to add?
We appreciate the opportunity to share more about this release. Our goal is always to create music that resonates and leaves a lasting impression.
So thanks a lot again!
