Interviews: Barrage
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Barrage from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE!.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just happen organically?
When we formed, we all had ideas for names, so we decided to throw them all into a bucket, and Barrage is what was pulled out. The name Barrage actually came from a song "Mustasch - Barrage"
2. Why did you choose to play this genre?
We were all drawn to metal and extreme music when we grew up in some way or another -- combine that with a passion for playing and creating music, and it's only natural that you write what you love.
3. Did you know each other before forming the band?
We did know each other before this band formed! Kansas City is a "big yet small" scene. So many bands and music of all genres, but everyone is connected in some way. We have all played shows together in different projects for years before Barrage formed (except our singer Rylie -- this is one of her first bands! She has sung for years and is a die-hard metal fan and concert goer!"
4. What is each band member's favorite band?
Benjamin - Volbeat
Rylie - Soilwork
Garrett - KISS
Jordan - Twelve Foot Ninja
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Life. We are always inspired by experiences, concerts, live music, and the passion of music in general. We are songwriters at heart and are always writing.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last show was at Voodoo Lounge at Harrah's Casino in Kansas City.
7. Where would you like to perform in the future?
We would love to travel and play in Europe - they do rock and metal so differently there!
8. Which artist or band would you like to collaborate with?
Nik Barker from Twelve Foot Ninja, Bjorn from Soilwork, Corey Taylor from Slipknot and Stone Sour, Hardy
LJ from Sevendust, and Tech N9ne - both Kansas City artists, so repping our city.
9. Is there anyone you wouldn’t want to collaborate with?
Phil Anselmo, Ronnie Radke, MGK -- all jokes aside, we are very open to any collaboration.
10. Have any of you ever experienced stage fright? Do you have any tips for beginners on overcoming it?
Definitely -- it is something we have all gone through, and some of us still have pre-show anxiety.
Some good advice is to accept that you are nervous, and just do it! Find a place before the show where you can be alone, find your happy place, and collect yourself with some deep breathing.
Shows are draining in so many aspects - all the fan and friend interaction, the intensity of changeovers and pre-set prep, the energy of the crowd, and the overall performance. It is not easy -- don't be a pussy, and just drink more ;)
11. Which bands have influenced you the most?
Soilwork, Unearth, Sevendust, Mastodon, Trivium, Killswitch Engage, Korn
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Sexy time.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We love our fans and friends so much. We wouldn't be here without them!
14. What do you think of our site?
It looks good - we appreciate what you do!
15. Is there anything else you’d like to add?
We aren't good at math.
Our new song Tombstone, is out everywhere! We have an album in the works -- so follow along if you like what you hear!
