Interviews: East Ov Eden

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal/Deathcore band East Ov Eden from the USA. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just happen organically?

Chance: East Ov Eden (originally "East of Eden") was an idea that I had lying around since 2020. Conveniently, in 2022, when my original bandmates and I were coming up with a name, that was the one that stuck. 

2. Why did you choose to play this genre?

Derek: We all have a love for heavy, hard-hitting music, but it's just kind of what naturally occurred with us. We're still evolving and changing our sound every day, so what you hear in our upcoming music may not be what we do forever. 

3. Did you know each other before forming the band?

Chance: No. The band was the result of strangers on the internet who found out they were local to each other. 

4. What is each band member's favorite band?

Derek: Whitechapel.

Will: Lorna Shore.

Chandler: Parkway Drive.

Chance: Suicide Silence

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Derek/Chance: It's primarily based on mood. Most of the time, if one of us is feeling down, it's good fuel for songwriting. 

6. Where was your last gig?

The Vinyl Lounge in Nashville, TN!

7. Where would you like to perform in the future?

The Webster in Hartford, CT. Trees in Dallas, TX, among others.

8. Which artist or band would you like to collaborate with?

We're huge fans of the guys in Ov Ruin from Nashville. We'd have a blast working something up with them (Go see them at TN Metal Devastation!)

9. Is there anyone you wouldn’t want to collaborate with?

Derek: Nobody in particular, but there are bands we wouldn't work with simply due to genre/style differences. 

10. Have any of you ever experienced stage fright? Do you have any tips for beginners on overcoming it?

Derek/Will: We all do to some degree. Allowing yourself to be vulnerable while embracing the moment and performance is super important. Also, being able to work your way up through more comfortable environments. 

11. Which bands have influenced you the most?

Shadow of Intent, Gojira, Whitechapel, Lorna Shore, Cattle Decapitation, Fit For An Autopsy, Signs of the Swarm, The Air I Breathe, Miss May I, Chelsea Grin 

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Chance/Derek: Maybe a hug? Most of our fans are rather normal people. The idea of meeting fans is the weirdest thing to us, honestly. We aren't too used to it yet.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love each and every one of them. Genuinely. We can't do anything without them, and hearing any sort of praise, or even criticism, drives us to keep doing this. Getting to talk with them makes our day, and shows that something very personal to us has reached some sort of audience -Derek/Chance

14. What do you think of our site?

Amazing. It's great for so many bands in the scene. What you all are doing encourages nothing but growth! :)

15. Is there anything else you’d like to add?

We aren't stopping yet. We will be releasing a full-length album in Summer 2025. 10 tracks, some you've already heard, and plenty more bangers that are yet to come. Search up "East Ov Eden" anywhere you'd like to access our Linktree, which has all of our important news, socials, and content!
