Interviews: Fall Of Saturn
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Groove Metal band Fall Of Saturn from the UK. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just come out like that?
The band name was hard to pick, as we all had different ideas for names for the band, and Fall of Saturn was the only one we all agreed on. Val came up with the name, which is based on Greek/Roman mythology. Zeus (Jupiter) was Chronos's (Saturn's) son, who ended up overthrowing his father.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Will and Val wanted to create a project that expressed both energy and groove through low tunings and heavy riffs. This, and our common musical background, made the choice of genre practically natural.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Only Will and Val knew each other before the band was formed.
4. Each band member's favourite band?
Ernesto - Tool
Val - Machine Head
Will - Rage
Linas - Pantera
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Lyrically, I tend to talk about things we have in common as human beings—social topics or issues, or even my personal feelings and experiences. Musically, coming from different musical backgrounds and tastes, literally anything can inspire us—it can be just a specific sound we are looking for, a riff, or even a drum pattern.
6. Where was your last gig?
The Black Heart in Camden
7. Where would you like to play?
Literally everywhere!
8. Who would you like to support?
This is a hard one, we love so many different bands that it would be hard to choose, but I guess Pantera, Machine Head, Killswitch Engage and Tool would be at the top of the list.
9. Who not?
I don't think there is a band we wouldn't support, really, we love everyone!
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
I still do every time after 30 years. The trick, I guess, is to be aware of the rewards you'll get once you start playing, the audience cheering and dancing to your music, which is priceless!
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Initially, the band that inspired us the most was definitely Pantera, being the band we all love and grew up listening to.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
A fan once asked us if we had change for a tenner!
13. What do you think of your fans?
We are nothing without them!
14. What do you think of our site?
It's a really nice portal, well done and full of interesting news regarding the metal world, kudos!
15. Something to add?
Simply listen to our music, come to our gigs and have fun…stay metal!
