Interviews: Septarian

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Death Metal/Death Metal/Metal band Septarian from the USA. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just happen organically?

It came from the stone—Septarian nodules. They’re formed from volcanic eruptions, buried in sediment, cracked by time and pressure, then filled in with something new. That transformation—destruction turning into beauty—that’s what spoke to us. We also wanted a strong, one-word name that stood on its own, and Septarian felt like it carried that weight.

2. Why did you choose to play this genre?

It wasn’t a choice—it was instinct. Metal gives us the freedom to be loud, raw, and honest. It holds space for rage and catharsis, but also for beauty and brotherhood.

3. Did you know each other before forming the band?

Most of us, yeah. The drummer’s my dad. I’ve known Josh, our rhythm guitarist, since I was eight. Nick’s a newer addition, but he fits in like he’s always been here. And John? He used to flirt with my mom back in high school—go figure.

4. What is each band member's favorite band?

It’s a mixed bag: Gojira, Lamb of God, Cannibal Corpse, Deftones, and Crowbar. We all pull inspiration from different ends of the heavy spectrum.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life. The chaos of it, the pain, the joy, the parts that leave scars or make you feel invincible. We write what we know, what we live, and what keeps us going.

6. Where was your last gig?

Eclipse Bar in Jacksonville, Florida. The crowd was loud, the room was wild—exactly the kind of energy we feed on.

7. Where would you like to perform in the future?

Anywhere that shakes the walls and rattles bones. Big festivals, gritty clubs, packed bars—if the crowd’s hungry, we’re there.

8. Which artist or band would you like to collaborate with?

Spiritbox, Jinjer, Zakk Wylde... or maybe just let Mike Patton loose in the studio with us and see what kind of chaos we unleash.

9. Is there anyone you wouldn’t want to collaborate with?

If you’re just in it for the clout or coasting on ego? Keep walking. We want heart, passion, sweat—anything less doesn’t belong here.

10. Have any of you ever experienced stage fright? Do you have any tips for beginners on overcoming it?

Definitely, but once the first note hits, it fades. The trick is to stop performing and feel it—let the music take over. You’re not up there to impress—you’re there to ignite.

11. Which bands have influenced you the most?

Pantera. Gojira. Deftones. Lamb of God. Crowbar. Bands that built their sound from the inside out and made every note count.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Had a drunk fan try to climb on stage and dance on me mid-set. Not quite a request, but it was definitely a moment.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They're our family. The pit, the screams, the sing-alongs—they’re part of the chaos, part of the ritual. We love them loud and loyal.

14. What do you think of our site?

Any platform that gives real bands a voice and lifts the underground is doing the scene a favor. We respect the hell out of that.

15. Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Septarian’s just getting started. We’re not here to play nice—we’re here to build something heavy, honest, and unforgettable. Come find us in the pit.
