Track By Tracks: Circling Over - Amends (2025)
1. Truce:
Lyrically, is about a friend who went through a messy breakup and some career challenges. At the time had to talk to him about a ledge and say life is worth it and putting value back into himself. It was very sad to see him in this state, and I wanted to make sense of it.
The song definitely has some pop sensibilities and is likely the most accessible track on the record, as it gets right to the point in the beginning.
2. Eve:
Eve is our first single from the record. It starts out very mellow and accomplishes a big swing dynamically in this song.
Lyrically, the song is about Depression and suicide, and loss of life. It is likely our darkest song we have written.
3. Cascade:
Has a ton of post-rock elements. Starts with a clean finger-picked guitar. and builds as the song progresses, ending with a big chorus at the end.
Lyrically, it is about watching my peers put things they want to do in life on hold. Waiting too long to pursue passions. The overall message is that if there is something you want, now is the time to do it.
4. Makers:
One of our oldest songs reimagined. We simply thought it would be a good fit for the record and wanted to re-record it.
It is one of our more epic songs with a lot of post-metal influence. Lots of dynamics. Quiet verses build to big choruses and end heavy.
Lyrically - It is about questioning my own faith. I want to believe something. I just don't know what it is at this point in my life. At the time of writing, I was experiencing a lot of loss, and this was my way of coping with the loss of loved ones.
5. Anemone:
It is just a piano ballad Bobby wrote. We all felt it was a beautiful piece and fit the mood and record.
6. Sol:
Probably the heaviest song on the record. Low-tuned guitars really put an epic post-metal vibe to the end of the record.
Lyrically, it is about most of us working jobs we don't love to buy things we don't need. Very Fight Club of us!
