Interviews About Albums: Will O' Dusk - The Long Lasting Dusk (2025)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Italian Rock band Will O' Dusk to ask questions about their album, "The Long Lastin Dusk".

1. What can you say about this upcoming debut CD?

We are very excited about the upcoming album: it marks our debut, and we couldn’t be more satisfied. We started working on it in September 2023, which is when the band officially formed with the lineup you'll come to know. Some of the tracks already existed in embryo (such as Crossroads, you’re gonna hear about it a lot!), born during the period when the band was still searching for a voice—they were instrumental bases with a structure of their own, but still missing melodies and lyrics. We started working from those, and from there the others followed like a cascade, as if they had just been waiting to see the light. Almost everything we composed between September 2023 and March 2024 found its place in the album, following the band’s evolutionary path.

2. What is the meaning of the CD name?

The Long Lasting Dusk represents both the metaphorical "coming into the light" of the band with this debut album and the direction of the journey the listener is taken on: from dusk to dawn, passing through a very dark night. Dusk for us is that place where light and shadow coexist, the moment of intimate synthesis of emotions, experienced beyond good and evil, to find in them the will to face a new dawn.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD?

All band members took part in the songwriting, each bringing their own ideas and playing a clearly defined role, but in the end, this debut album can truly be regarded as a collective work. Typically, the harmonic and melodic parts are composed first, often side by side and sometimes even during acoustic sets, while the rhythm section adds the final punch, refining the structure and incorporating those essential details that make each track succeed. Musical composition and lyric writing proceed almost hand in hand, with each informing the other until the song is born.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

It would be truly difficult for us to choose just one track from the album's tracklist. This work really makes the most sense when listened to in its entirety (we know, we’re hopeless romantics from another era...), but if we had to answer this question, we’d say that Crossroads is definitely a track worth highlighting. It represents the perfect meeting point of the various influences that shape the album. It’s a song charged with emotion, and the inner conflict that led to its creation is very real—we hope the listener will be able to feel it.

5. Is there a special message on this CD? If there is what it is?

The album tells the story of a journey of awareness, of realizing one’s mistakes and accepting responsibility, which culminates in a new love for oneself and others. This love is not based on the elimination of what is bad, but on the contemplation of the coexistence of light and shadow as a whole, which would be harmful to oneself and others only if separated. The journey is metaphorically taken by the listener, who moves from track to track, starting with darker songs and lyrics where destruction prevails over creation, to the final pieces where light and dark come together to create new perspectives with brighter, more pop-like tones.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

There are so many lines we’d love to share with you—each one holds a special meaning for us. But we’ve decided to take a more Dadaist approach to introducing you to the album. We hope you’ll be curious to find out how, where, and why… but just know this: “Keepers' always on, Killer Queen is the song he sings while shaving his balls! We all know!”

7. Which inspirations have been important for this debut album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

The individual musical paths of each band member had to come to terms with the kind of synthesis we want to share with you. Rock is an incredibly broad world, and our influences range (just to name a few) from Southern Rock to Post-Grunge, from Hard Rock to Glam. For us, that synthesis came naturally—and we hope it resonates with you! Of course, we want to thank every single person who supported (and endured) us through the long months of work: our mentor Guido Block (a true old-school star), Massive Art Music with Alberto (the best mastering studio in the galaxy), and of course friends, lovers, pets, and random passersby who heard us sing off-key—and in tune—what you’ll soon be able to listen to. A heartfelt thanks as well to those who are believing in us right now and helping us bring our music to as many ears as possible: Diotima Music Agency and Giorgio! Thanks to everyone who bought us our first CD, and a special thank-you to Lanci for making such a meaningful encounter possible for us!

8. Something to add?

We can’t wait to hear what you think of this first work of ours and to bring our songs to as many stages as possible! One thing’s for sure—you HAVE to love this debut album, because we’re already hard at work on a ton of new material that we can’t wait to share with you! ;)
