Interviews: Chasing Dolls

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the South West Emo band Chasing Dolls from the UK. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it or come out just like that?

Vocalist made a list of band names made up of lyrics he’d written as the band evolved. We then chose together. This was from a poem called Chasing Dolls, and the name stuck (Poem was written aged 16 about sleep paralysis haha, which is also when the band was named!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We didn’t set out with the intention of one specific genre. It’s a combination of inspiration, playing styles, and our surroundings.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

A few of us grew up going to school together, and the rest met through the local skate scene. We have remained very close!

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Marietta, The Doors, The Cure, American Football

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Small town pity compared to the city of reality! Taking inspiration from nights out together, different perspectives and tales are expressed through a thought-provoking and dynamic sound.

6. Where was your last gig?

A hometown headline return show at The Victoria in Swindon (the venue that gave us our very first show). First time back this year, and the room was full of people dancing, moshing, and singing along. The local constabulary even showed up because they wanted to see what the fuss was about…

7. Where would you like to act?

Everywhere and anywhere, people will appreciate our music.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Plumtree (the band that wrote the song “Scott Pilgrim”

9. Who not?

Machine Gun Kelly!

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Avoid relying on a false sense of security from inebriation, practice together until you don’t have to think about what other members are playing. Then you can focus solely on the music. We all really trust each other, and if we’re nervous, we generally just hang out…

Sex in the woods

Open-minded!

14. What do you think of our site?

Needs work.. (Only Joking!) It’s great that you push artists and bands on the international stage and allow them the exposure they deserve. Also, noticed you don’t just expose Western acts, unlike a lot of other media outlets which is wonderful!

15. Something added?

Our new single comes out on August 1st followed by a few that lead up to an EP! This is our first full single that we’re releasing to streaming platforms, so give it a go…
