Behind The Artworks: Amenspear - All My Gods Are Dying (2025)

The album artwork for All My Gods Are Dying is from the El Greco painting "Pentecost". I'm not in a position to be commissioning professional album covers so I like to use old paintings. I chose this one because it fit some of the lyrical themes. Everyone's looking up at the sky, sort of yearning for an answer or a sign from God. But everyone has a different facial expression, reflecting differing opinions as to what that divine answer, if any, will be. This fits the theme of the title track pretty well. I also liked the color palette of the painting. I adjusted it a little further and made the blue and gray hues of it more prominent. I think it fits the cold and raw sound of the album. Which is interesting, because the music on the album isn't necessarily the standard "cold and raw" old school black metal, but the production does have that feel a little bit. If there's a mental image I have when listening to the album, it's of a man standing in a gray, barren landscape crying out for help from God.
