Behind The Scenes: Ivy Gardens - Eye Witness (Official Video)

I tend to treat our music videos as a brief exorcism of all the nasty ideas that naturally coalesce watching schlock horror films and sleazy gore movies. Eye Witness is a sequel to our last video, Goon, where two hockey players gruesomely fight to the death, both on the ice and off.

 

This video loosely follows the narrative of the song: A man is stalked. Our perspective rapidly shifts between the man stalked and the men hunting him down. We wanted to portray this with a lot of fast vehicular action and energy. Our friend (and natural born actor) Lucas Venneri recently got a used Corvette, and we immediately decided to incorporate it into the video: creating a chase sequence between our rusted out van and the sleek silver vette gunning it down long, beautiful country roads.

 

For this one we wanted quite a bit of blood effects and some gore. With the help of our friend GoopyGoblinSFX, who handled the makeup, props, and effects for Goon, we pulled off an awesome hand severing sequence, as well as some chopped up fingers, a sliced throat and much more. A very tricky shot at the end reveals the last twist to tie in this video with Goon, and I hope we can further this saga and turn it into a trilogy for the next album.
