Interviews About Albums: Bakelit - No Fear Of Drowning (2025)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Swedish Progressive Rock/Electronic Art Rock band Bakelit to ask questions about their album, "No Fear Of Drowning".

1. What can you say about this new album?

One thing: It’ll be released less than one year after the previous release. I felt like we were having some kind of momentum, something like “now or never”. OK, no, but perhaps, if not now, so 3-5 years would not matter. And it also reflects that I have a lot of songs waiting to be recorded in this setting. Actually, there are more... so if I can motivate the others, there might be a third release during 2026.

2. What is the meaning of the album name “No Fear of Drowning”?

It’s the title of one of the songs, and I think it reflects the essence of the album. 14. Which one is the composer of the album? I am, with some extra help from the others, short melody lines here and there.

3. If you have to pick one song, which one would you pick?

The opening track, “From The Underground”, is not only for the result but also for the way it evolved from just a jam session with one of my weird drum machines to a nice progressive hymn. Also, how all the others contributed in their own way, leading to the final result.

4. Is there a special message in this album? If there is what it is?

Hmm, I would not say a message, but there is a theme around it exploring the darker sides of our minds. Fantasies, night dreams, uncontrollable thoughts that we’re not always proud of, but that somehow help us get stronger and do good. I’ve used some strong metaphors like war, death, anxiety, occult references, and other things to symbolize this, and in the end I think (hope?) it’s for good...

5. Something to add?

Thanks for listening to me! And hope you’ll like the coming album.
