Interviews: Averse

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Averse from Finland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it or come out just like that?

We spent quite a while thinking about the band name and had some different ideas, but then came Averse, which also has a nice meaning in Finnish.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We’re not really limited to any genre, but metalcore is what we gravitated towards in our debut EP. It gives room for both fast, heavy riffs and slow, slamming breakdowns. You also get great clean vocals in this genre, so the listeners remain entertained.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

The idea of starting a band came when I met Jimi Andström. Then I found Juho Ranta-Maunus doing a guitar clinic, and the very next day, Marlon Mäkelä came to talk to me at a private gig. That formed the first four of us. Later, I found Roope Osmo, whom I used to play in a band years ago.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Favorite bands: Electric Callboy, Lorna Shore, I Prevail.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I get inspired just by the idea of writing our own songs and performing them.

6. Where was your last gig?

KäntynmäkiRock.

7. Where would you like to act?

A big club or a festival. Wacken, for example.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

It would be a dream to feature with Slipknot, of course. Maybe a famous Finnish singer.

9. Who not?

Maybe some popular Finnish singer

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I haven’t. The thing is, you'll eventually get better at it the more you perform. Also good and supportive audience helps a lot, and just going for it with all you’ve got!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Slipknot or Trivium.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A signature on someone’s boobs.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are amazing and really supportive.

14. What do you think of our site?

Your site just needs a little improvement.

15. Something to add?

Go listen to our EP!
