Interviews: Last II

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Metal band Last II from the USA. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just happen organically?

This is a rather long story, but the short of it is, there were three brothers. The youngest of us three passed away in 2021. One night, hanging out with my older brother, we were talking, and I made the comment that it was just us now, and we are the last two. So that's how we came up with LAST II.

2. Why did you choose to play this genre?

Although I listen to all genres and my favorite artist of all time was Elvis Presley, I've always been a metalhead. My three all-time bands from my childhood were Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and, of course, Judas Priest. Later on, I became a huge Savatage fan. They had a profound influence on my voice.

3. Did you know each other before forming the band?

My previous bands through the years were all regurgitated remnants of previous bands featuring members from all the original versions. But this time around, it's all fresh blood. It was one of those things where the universe lined up and we found each other.

4. What is each band member's favorite band?

Their tastes vary. Our guitar player's favorite is Trivium. Our drummer's is anything from Lamb Of God to Slipknot and many others. Our bass player is probably Rush. He loves Geddy Lee's work. My fav is all of the above in question

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I am the primary songwriter, and pretty much all of my lyrics are based on true live events from different perspectives. They tend to be more on the painful realities of life.

6. Where was your last gig?

We just played Freaks Unleashed Metal Festival in June, and we just did our last show for a while, supporting our friends' EP release party in Baltimore at Fish Head Cantina.

7. Where would you like to perform in the future?

We are currently back in the studio to record the next four songs and complete our 1st full 8-song album. Our next show will be our Album release party. And we'd love to get on some of the festivals. I think it would be a great experience to do something like that.

8. Which artist or band would you like to collaborate with?

I would love to sit down with Jon Oliva from Savatage and write with him. We share a lot in common.

9. Is there anyone you wouldn’t want to collaborate with?

Can't really say I wouldn't want to collaborate with anyone. Every experience is just that, EXPERIENCE. Different perspectives keep music fresh.

10. Have any of you ever experienced stage fright? Do you have any tips for beginners on overcoming it?

I've never really experienced stage fright. I get my adrenaline rush, and I chomp at the bit to get on that stage. From the first gig I ever did, I have loved it. It's the greatest experience ever. Especially when you have a lively crowd and everyone is getting into it.

11. Which bands have influenced you the most?

See question 2 response.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I don't know if it's weird. But I was asked directly one time by a chick if I would mind it terribly if she f__k'd my brains out. Of course, the answer was NO, I wouldn't mind it at all... 🙂 🙂

13. What do you think of your fans?

Fans are really hard to come by these days in the current environment, with all the choices and the market being so saturated. You'd better take care of all your fans. They deserve it. They are choosing to come and support YOU. Don't let them down...!!!

14. What do you think of our site?

I love the site. Very well designed. I also appreciate organizations like this that are out supporting up-and-coming artists. It's a great service to us little guys.

15. Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Let me know if you have any other questions. And we are available for live interviews if you need us to be.
