Behind The Tracks: KASCK - Be Quick Or Be Dead (Single) (2025)

When Indian thrash metal outfit KASCK dropped their explosive new single “Be Quick or Be Dead”, fans were hit with a 90-second adrenaline rush-packed track with a chorus that practically demands a crowd shout back. But behind the intensity lies a story of evolution, camaraderie, and a moment that turned a fast song into a live show weapon.

The track’s origins go back to when frontman Mayank Katare co-wrote the song with KASCK’s former drummer. “The idea was simple, make it fast, make it nasty, and keep it thrashy,” Mayank says. True to that vision, the core structure was built on speed and raw energy, staying true to the band’s old-school thrash roots.

But things took a new turn when Vishal joined the band, stepping in on bass and backing vocals. That’s when the song transformed from a thrash banger into something interactive and theatrical. “It became more like a dialogue,” Mayank explains. “I’d shout ‘Be Quick’, and Vishal would hit back with ‘Or Be Dead.’ It clicked immediately, it had this back and forth power that we knew would crush live.”

And it did.

The band introduced the song into their live set, turning the chorus into a chant that the entire crowd could yell back:

“BE QUICK!” —Mayank
“OR BE DEAD!” —Vishal
“BE QUICK OR BE DEAD!” —Crowd erupts

“We played this at Wacken Open Air 2024,” says the band, “and the crowd went absolutely batshit crazy. It’s one of those songs that feeds off the crowd, and they give it right back every time.”

That fan energy became the inspiration for the music video. Rather than a polished studio clip, KASCK decided to showcase its global community. “It’s a crowd favorite, so we thought, why not include the actual fans who scream the chorus with us?” The video features live footage and fan-submitted clips from across the globe, making it not just a release, but a tribute to the metal family KASCK has built.

As for what comes next, “Be Quick or Be Dead” is just the beginning. “It sets the tempo for what’s coming,” Mayank teases. “We’ve got more tracks lined up, and if this one’s the firestarter, just wait for the explosion.”
Be Quick... or Be Dead.
