Interviews: Scriptura
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Old School Metal band Scriptura from France. Check out the interview and this amazing band!
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
It was the name of a fictitious band I invented when I was a teenager in the late '90s, and it fit perfectly with the music we wanted to make.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I listened to a lot of Metal when I was young, but also Grunge and Hardcore Punk. We all have the same influences, so it was only logical that we should play this kind of music.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
We've known each other since we were kids, and we've evolved musically in much the same way. It was pretty obvious that we should make music together.
4. Each band member's favourite band?
Dale: Sepultura
Chris: Obituary
Dave: Black Flag
David: Lemming Project
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Lyrically, the sources of inspiration come from real-life events or films.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was at Peyrelevade in Corrèze, but that was a long time ago...
7. Where would you like to act?
We don't play anymore, but if we did, it might be nice to play at a festival dedicated to the rock universe.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
With Misty Route, Failure or Casademoni
9. Whom not?
With a band whose political ideas I do not share, or with misogynistic or violent morals
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
When we had stage fright, we used to drink a little glass of Salers. It helps a lot ;)
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Sepultura, Obituary, Nirvana, Black Sabbath, Black Flag, Gruntruck, Lemming Project, Bolt Thrower... But there are so many others
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
To mix Salers with Ricard, it wasn't the best idea.
13. What do you think of your fans?
The three fans we have are pretty cool
14. What do you think of our site?
I didn't know about your site before this interview; it was our label that introduced me to it. I've had a look around and you're doing a great job promoting the bands.
15. Something to add?
Thanks a lot for this interview, and thanks a lot to the Bitume label for reissuing our album in digipack, which also includes all the covers we've done.
