Behind The Tracks: Reaping Asmodeia - Shattered Leviathan/Sanctuary Of Poison (Singles) (2025)

The lyrics for these 2 new tracks sort of play off of one another as they are part of a greater overarching narrative. Both songs tell the story of our “Reaper” mascot seeking revenge and redemption after a near-death battle with an inter-dimensional demon, Narcissus, who siphons energy off of innocent humans.

The lyrics to Shattered Leviathan find The Reaper traversing to the demon’s dimension and clashing with The Leviathan - the demon’s 6 headed giant monster and protector of the “Sanctuary of Poison”. Where the heart of the demon’s power resides. In “Shattered Leviathan” the Reaper overcomes the insane challenge of beheading the Leviathan in order to gain entry to the sanctuary.

 

“Sanctuary of Poison” sees the Reaper pursuing Narcissus through the labyrinthian tunnels of the Sanctuary mocking the Reaper until there’s nowhere left to run and the Reaper straps the selfish, poisonous, toxic demon’s head to a stone and ceremoniously decapitates him with prejudice. Bringing the demon’s reign of terror to an end and allowing the Reaper redemption from his previous attempts to successfully dispatch the devil.

 

Both songs deal with the themes of self-awareness, perseverance, keeping your mind open to change and confronting your greatest fears. Shattered Leviathan is a testament to confronting those fears openly and directly through abandoning the past, pushing beyond your known limits and fighting like hell. Emerging victorious. Sanctuary of Poison is a statement about how we create toxic echo chambers and attach ourselves to ideologies until it’s hard to tell if our thoughts are even our own. How we shape our mindset and build our own sanctuaries of poison for ourselves. Constructing that sick place in our minds using apathy and resentment - it causes us to become blind to our own awful tendencies if we aren’t careful. The song also speaks to the fact that your behavior is pretty heavily influenced by the company you keep.Your thoughts become things. And so too does your failure or success in any endeavor, depending on who you surround yourself with. It can be sad or scary standing up for yourself and moving on from people or situations that no longer align with your values or goals. But we can’t be afraid to move on or those same influences will be our demise.
