Interviews About Albums: Sunless Paradox - Sunless Paradox (2025)
In this new interview, we sat down with the French Metalcore band Sunless Paradox to ask questions about their album, "Sunless Paradox".
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
We could say that it was made in pain and tears, considering the lineup changes we had to face during production. Overall, we are very proud of what we delivered!
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
Well, it's the same as the band name. This is a name you have to visualize, imagine a solar system with its main component (the sun) gone. What would we do? What would become of us? This is a dreadful yet fascinating question...
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
Actually, it's one of the og members that left the band, Thomas, even though we all added our own mojo to the songs, this is his work for the most part.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
Tough question here! But if I had to pick one, I would say Casus Belli. It's a song about war and how we are fooled by our governments into supporting it. There are only men of the battlefield; the real monsters aren't here.
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?
There are multiple messages, in this we talk about war as well as inner fights some of us go through at some point in life.
Amongst other serious topics, we're asking ourselves what kind of world we want to leave behind for future generations.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
Of course!
Here's the second verse of Decline. I especially love the feeling and message it conveys.
"Tell me who will take the blame, once everything is said and done?
Some tiny footsteps in the distance,
Last witnesses of our infernal dance,
Gazing upon the ruins of our kind,
Too late now there's no way to rewind,
What will they feel when they will learn,
We didn't do shit to make things better,
We willingly let those in charge,
Tell us how to live, tell us how to breathe, use and abuse us then leave."
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?
If we have to go with the musical ones, they seem obvious: Bullet For My Valentine would be number one, and then some mix of Trivium, In Flames, or Killswitch Engage. 2000s metalcore is the name of the game here! Our families obviously support us greatly; we wouldn't be able to make the band work without them.
8. Something to add?
Thanks for having us, have some water, take naps and rise against wars and genocides occurring right now, see ya!
