Interviews: Karnage Through Crossing
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal/Heavy Metal band Karnage Through Crossing from Canada. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it or came out just like that?
The band name originated from the intentions set up in the previous band, or the founder came from, Nova 1, fusing traditional heavy metal with different sub genres, including Thrash Metal, Death Metal, and Hard Rock. This led to the idea of representing this mission in a band name. After turning down different band names, but catching an interest in the abbreviation KTX from different nominees, Rhyse took a couple of days before coming to the members to suggest Karnage Through Crossing
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We wanted to play this style for two reasons: first off, it's exciting! Playing the best parts of different influences keeps the energy high and elevates the feelings music expresses in every atmosphere. The second reason why we play this style is that it constantly challenges us. We've all seen our favorite musicians get stuck in a rut at some point in their careers, recycling the same styles and patterns that were most effective for them, leaving them uninspired and unfulfilled. Dedicating ourselves to experimenting with multiple styles in a single song forces us to push boundaries and expand the limits of what Heavy Metal can be.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Ashton and Rhyse played together in Nova 1 for a short time before one of the founders quit, and Rhyse carried on with what he created during that time. Josh didn't enter the picture until later when the band found him posting an ad online.
4. Each band member's favourite band?
Right now, Rhyse's favorite band would be either WASP or Ambush, Ashton's favorite band would be either Slipknot or Death Angel, and Josh's favorite bands are Cannibal Corpse.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Rhyse quotes songs about the electrifying heavy metal lifestyle he sees represented around him in his life and from his favorite bands like Iced Earth, Judas Priest, Dissection, and Skullfist.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last big gig was at the Palamino in Calgary, Alberta, with Tower Hill and Lycanthro.
7. Where would you like to perform?
70k heavy metal cruise, bloodfest, wacken!
8. Whom would you like to perform with?
Playing with Ambush, Enforcer, Striker, Skullfist, and, of course, any of our favorite legends growing up would be the dream!
9. Whom not?
There are some shifty, toxic people out there. I bet you'd love to know all our enemies, but what makes KTX legendary is that we empower our community, not run it through the dirt.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
I'm sure we've all had our nerves and doubts at some point. Honestly, when you get on stage and you start playing, it all melts away. Stay true to who you are, focus on what brought you there and the love for music that has you the strength to put yourself out there, but most importantly, take your training seriously.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
80s Heavy Fuckin Metal !!
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Free stuff
13. What do you think of your fans?
The most supportive, passionate, energetic people in the world, with the coolest styles, and the most dedication!! It's wild how committed and jacked fans are off heavy metal music; it's contagious!
14. What do you think of our site?
We checked your site out, and we love how diverse you are. Not only do you have so many new artists interviewed for people to learn about, but we love the behind-the-artwork segments.
15. Something to add?
Remember, our songwriters live and bleed heavy metal! There's more than just a song you're hearing; this is a message, a statement! And a legacy we all share together, in the Pit, on our jackets, and in our lives. Come for the story, stay for the power
