Track By Tracks: Saüc - Catarsi (2025)
1. Quàlia:
“Quàlia” opens the album with an explosion of intensity: a shattering riff that
grows and evolves into a sonic journey full of nuances. Without words, the
music becomes the first encounter with the inner world that Catarsi unveils,
inviting the listener to dive into the emotional and mental experience the album
proposes. A powerful and direct calling card that sets the path for what is yet to
come.
2. Bèstia:
“Bèstia” is an aggressive and straightforward anthem against the brutality and
madness of bullfighting. The song navigates through shifting intensities: the
opening riff remains fierce until the verse arrives, initially lowering the force only
to build it up gradually and merge into the chorus, which takes on a more
melodic tone paired with sharp, reflective lyrics. The track reaches its climax in
the instrumental section, enriched with shades of thrash and progressive metal.
3. Nèmesi:
“Nèmesi” is a straight punch to the face, a fast and intense track rooted in hard
rock and classic metal. The lyrics plunge us into the mind of someone scarred
by a deep wound, who—after a long inner battle between good and
evil—ultimately gives in to vengeance. It is a dark and passionate catharsis,
where pain turns into strength and justice ceases to be abstract, becoming
action instead. A cry of freedom painted with rage and redemption.
4. Series tu:
“Series tu” is a classic ballad drawing from ’90s and 2000s metal. It’s a song
laden with emotion, oscillating between semi-acoustic verses and powerful,
melodic choruses. Inspired by a personal experience, the track is a cry of hope
for all those who suffer—or have suffered—from cancer or a debilitating illness.
5. Instint:
“Instint” stands out as one of the album’s most modern tracks, infused with the
energy and groove of bands like Disturbed and sharpened with djent-style riffs
that give it a biting, contemporary edge. The song plays with the tension
between melody and heaviness, reflecting the inner struggle between reason
and primal impulses. The lyrics explore the fragile balance between
surrendering to instinct or mastering it, underlining that self-control which makes
us human. An intense, powerful track that captures the constant battle within.
6. Després del silenci:
“Després del silenci” is one of the album’s most intricate pieces, weaving
between the force of Alter Bridge and the epic tones of Avenged Sevenfold. The
collaboration with Kris Vega (Cobra Spell) adds a new dimension with her voice,
lending greater depth and emotion to the narrative. The lyrics confront gender
violence head-on, depicting pain, loneliness, and the journey of rebirth into
struggle and resilience. A gripping, stirring song that balances power and
sensitivity in equal measure.
7. Obstinació:
“Obstinació” is the album’s most groundbreaking track, with a modern sound
where synthesizers take center stage and open new paths for Saüc’s music.
Simple in structure yet brimming with personality, the track preserves the band’s
spirit while exploring new textures. The collaboration with Adam Culleré, who
delivers a powerful scratch section in the bridge, adds a fresh and unexpected
twist. The lyrics delve into the inner fight against one’s fears and the suffocating
feeling of being trapped within an impenetrable wall—screaming for a way out.
8. Indibil i Mandoni:
“Indíbil i Mandoni” is an epic ten-minute song that shifts between classic
heavy metal, symphonic metal, and progressive rock. For this track, we
collaborated with Marc Storm (Icestorm and Drakum), who contributed guttural
vocals to its most aggressive passages. The song recounts the legend of Indíbil
and Mandoni through a poem by Joan Baptista Xuriguera. Born from our
passion for the culture of our land, we sought to pay homage to the tale of these
two Ilergetes who, during the 3rd century BC, fought wars and battles to defend
their people.
