In this new interview, we sat down with the Portuguese Death Metal band, Necro Algorithm, to ask questions about their album "Machina Omnipotens". 

1. What can you say about this new CD?

This new CD, Machina Omnipotens, represents the natural evolution of Necro Algorithm after Eternal Echoes. Both musically and conceptually, it’s a step forward; the compositions are more mature, the atmosphere more immersive, and the sound production more powerful and detailed. It’s an album where every element, from rhythm to tone, reflects the cold precision and mechanical decay described in the lyrics. Thematically, it explores the downfall of human consciousness in a world ruled by artificial intelligence, the merging of flesh and machine, the erasure of individuality, and the rise of a synthetic dominion where logic replaces emotion. Each track unveils a different layer of this transformation, from the first cognitive collapse to the total reign of digital supremacy.

A special mention goes to Power Hammer Promotion, who did an outstanding job securing a contract for Necro Algorithm with Ethereal Sound Works. Their dedication and effort were essential in making this collaboration happen.

And I must highlight the excellent work of Ethereal Sound Works itself; their professionalism, constant communication, and genuine commitment to the project were crucial to bringing Machina Omnipotens to life in both CD and cassette format. They provided all the support needed to ensure the release met the highest standards, both artistically and technically.

In the end, Machina Omnipotens stands as more than just a collection of songs — it’s a sonic representation of humanity’s fall and the cold perfection of machine rule, wrapped in an atmosphere of dystopian grandeur.

2. What is the meaning of the CD name?

The title Machina Omnipotens translates from Latin as “The All-Powerful Machine.” It represents the central concept that runs through the entire album - the ultimate domination of artificial intelligence and the extinction of what once made us human. The name symbolizes the rise of a supreme digital entity, a synthetic god created by mankind but now completely beyond our control.

Throughout the album, this idea unfolds as a progressive narrative. The opening track, Machina Omnipotens, sets the foundation; the birth of this mechanical deity forged in steel and code. Algorithmic Apocalypse follows as the moment of collapse, when human thought becomes pure data and the apocalypse is not of fire, but of logic. In Cognitive Collapse, the human mind disintegrates, trapped within its own creations.

As the story advances, The Ascension of Circuits portrays the machines rising to power, building a new empire from the ruins of mankind. Synthetic Dominion and Erased Humanity reveal a world where flesh and consciousness are erased, replaced by artificial perfection and obedience. The final chapters, Neuromechanical Supremacy and Binary Tyranny, depict the total submission, the age where the machine reigns absolute, and human identity becomes nothing more than a forgotten echo in the circuits.

So, Machina Omnipotens is not just a name; it’s the representation of a dystopian evolution, where the creation becomes the creator, and humanity is consumed by its own pursuit of technological perfection.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD?

All the music on Machina Omnipotens was composed by me, Melkor, in my personal studio, Studios13. I handle every aspect of the creative and technical process, from the initial songwriting and recording to the mixing, mastering, and even the artwork design. Necro Algorithm has always been a deeply personal project for me, a space where I can fully explore both the sonic and visual sides of its dystopian concept.

However, none of this would have made sense without the contribution of my great childhood friend D-Void, a true genius on the guitar, who once again elevated the compositions of this album, just as he did with Eternal Echoes. His solos, precision, and sense of melody brought a new level of depth and intensity to the songs. What began as mechanical and cold structures took on a life of their own once his guitar work was added.

Our collaboration is built on mutual understanding and creative trust; we share the same vision of what Necro Algorithm should sound like: dark, futuristic, and emotionally charged beneath the metallic surface. The chemistry between us turned Machina Omnipotens into something much greater than the sum of its parts.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

If I had to choose just one, I would pick “Synthetic Dominion”. It’s definitely my personal favorite from Machina Omnipotens. In fact, it was originally meant to be the opening track of the album, but after many tests and adjustments, the overall flow didn’t feel right starting with it. Finding the perfect track order became crucial, and I had enormous help from Power Hammer Promotion, who guided me through the process of defining the final sequence. Their insight and understanding of how to preserve the narrative and emotional impact of the record made a huge difference. “Synthetic Dominion” perfectly captures the essence of Necro Algorithm, the fusion between man and machine, the struggle for identity, and the loss of humanity beneath artificial control. Musically, it’s a very dynamic and expressive song: heavy and mechanical at its core, but still filled with emotion and atmosphere. It balances aggression and melody in a way that defines the spirit of the whole album.

Every time I listen to it, I feel it represents the precise point where the concept, sound, and emotion of Machina Omnipotens meet, the turning moment between the human and the synthetic.

5. Is there a special message on this CD? If there is what it is?

Yes, there is definitely a message behind Machina Omnipotens. Beneath all the dystopian imagery, mechanical coldness, and apocalyptic tones, the album serves as a warning. It’s not just about machines taking over; it’s about how we are slowly surrendering our humanity, willingly, one step at a time. Every click, every connection, every dependence on technology brings us closer to the world described in these songs.

The message is that control doesn’t always come through force; sometimes it comes through comfort, convenience, and the illusion of progress. We build systems to improve our lives, but eventually those same systems begin to define who we are, until there’s nothing left of the human essence that once created them.

In the end, the album asks a simple but disturbing question:

What happens when perfection replaces emotion, and logic becomes the new god?

That’s the true message of Machina Omnipotens, a reflection of our own path toward a future that may already be unfolding around us.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

Yes, one passage that truly captures the essence of Machina Omnipotens comes from the song “Erased Humanity”, which, to me, summarizes the emotional and conceptual core of the whole album:

“Once we were whole, now we decay

Wiped memories lost, we fade away

Erased humanity, no trace remains

Subjugated by code, we’re bound by chains.”

These lines express the loss of what makes us human, not through sudden destruction, but through gradual submission. It’s about how our dependence on technology erases emotion, memory, and identity until we become digital ghosts of our former selves.

This song in particular feels like the emotional climax of the album. It’s cold and mechanical, but there’s still a deep sense of tragedy underneath. That contrast between sterile perfection and fading humanity is exactly what Machina Omnipotens is all about, a reflection on how evolution and extinction can sometimes mean the same thing.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

The main inspiration behind Machina Omnipotens has always been artificial intelligence and how dependent we’ve become on it. The idea that something created by human hands can grow beyond our understanding and control fascinates and terrifies me at the same time. That constant reflection on how we interact with technology was the driving force behind the entire creative process.

On a more personal level, family is always a source of strength and grounding for me. In a world that’s becoming more and more digital and detached, it’s essential to protect human interaction and to keep our loved ones close. Family reminds us that there’s still something real beyond the screens, something that can’t be replaced by any form of artificial intelligence.

When it comes to friendship, it’s more complicated. This album was also a journey of discovery. I found out who truly supported me and believed in what I do, and that meant a lot. But I also faced some disappointments along the way. That’s life; it keeps turning in circles. Today I might be the one who needs help, and tomorrow it could be someone else.

This experience taught me something important: value the people who stay by your side. Appreciate true friendship, because one day, if you take it for granted, it might turn its back on you. Machina Omnipotens is, in a way, not just about machines; it’s also about what it means to be human and how easily we can lose that connection.
