Interviews: Against I

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Blackened Death Metal band, Against I, from Sweden. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it or came out just like that?

Basically, when the band was founded, it was supposed to be a one-man band, more or less. So it was me against myself, if that makes sense? 

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

From the start, I intended to make industrial music with guitars, but it got boring, and we moved more into blackened death metal.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Ye,s we did! Anders and I have known each other since 2016 and have played in the same band before. We also played together with Mathias in a band called Curse of Eibom.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Just gonna drop a few here: Clawfinger, Rob Zombie, Orbit Culture, Månegarm, Emperor, Mors Principium Est, Cattle Decapitation.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

As of the last album and this new one, I’d say that the state of the world inspired us to make them. The usual subjects are chaos, death, and war.

6. Where was your last gig?

It was in Gothenburg at The Abyss about 3 years ago. We’ve been focusing on music.

7. Where would you like to act?

Wherever people want to see us act! We are open to almost anything. Of course, Wacken would be awesome!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

That's a tricky one, Septic Flesh maybe? They are pretty damn awesome!

9. Whom not?

No idea, anyone who's an idiot?

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I think we all have, I know Mathias and I (Fredrik) have had it. You just gotta try not to think too hard, and it will mostly be gone after a song or two.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

That's a tricky question, I think a lot of bands have. For this project, it's def Septic Flesh, Mors Principum Est, and Orbit Culture.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing as of yet 🤣.

13. What do you think of your fans?

The few we have are awesome!
