Interviews: The Human Tragedy

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Orchestral Metal band, The Human Tragedy, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just happen organically?

Sam: Had the name for a previous band’s record. Once that band dissolved, we decided to keep the name for a new band. Had a nice ring to it.

2. Why did you choose to play this genre?

Sam: I had a vision of combining my love for metal with my love for film scores.

3. Did you know each other before forming the band?

We have known each other for quite some years before joining together. We have all played in various bands before uniting. Some of whom had played local gigs together.

4. What is each band member's favorite band?

Johnny: Soilwork

Frank: Soilwork

Sam: Dream Theater

Tim: Revocation

JB: Sleep Token (currently).

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

It can be anything. A story from a book, a movie, or a real-life situation dealing with our society.

6. Where was your last gig?

Newark, OH, with a lot of excellent talent in the area.

7. Where would you like to perform in the future?

Johnny: It’s always been a dream of mine to perform at one of the big European festivals like Wacken.

8. Which artist or band would you like to collaborate with?

Johnny: I would absolutely think it would be killer to have a guest solo by Jeff Loomis.

9. Is there anyone you wouldn’t want to collaborate with?

Johnny: Garth Brooks. Tom Segura knows why.

10. Have any of you ever experienced stage fright? Do you have any tips for beginners on overcoming it?

Johnny: I still experience nerves to a small degree, but when I first started playing live, my leg would slightly shake when playing. My advice would have to be: relax. People are there to have a good time and want you to be successful. Stay out to your head of the performance.

11. Which bands have influenced you the most?

It’s probably too many to fully list. But there are some obvious ones; Slayer, Metallica, Dream Theater, Nevermore, Dimmu Borgir, Cannibal Corpse, and film score composers such as John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and others.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Well, not so much asked me, but a drunk girl made out with my dirty shoe while my foot rested on the stage monitor. That was pretty wild.

13. What do you think of your fans?

I can speak for the band when we say that we appreciate any and all support so much. It means everything to us to feel that love and energy, and it’s inspiring. Thank you all so much!

14. What do you think of our site?

I think it’s fucking rad! I’ve seen the development and growth from the outside, and to now be doing some work with you all is nothing short of fantastic!

15. Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Please pick up our new album, ‘Upon Waves, The Inferno’. Follow all of our socials for news, and we have a lot more coming at everyone in time! Be on the lookout!
