Interviews: Nox Pulso

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Industrial Metal band, Nox Pulso, from England. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just happen organically?

Giving a name to your band is one of the toughest decisions a group can make. It has to convey the type of music, vibe, and attitude. It has to be repeatable; it’s no good coming up with a name that no one can pronounce or would feel embarrassed doing so. It’s permanent and has to be unique, so you’re not treading on another artist's toes. All of this and over a hundred years into recorded music? That’s really tough.

2. Why did you choose to play this genre?

We are both DJs in completely different fields. We play different instruments, and go to different nightclubs. The likelihood of seeing us in the same room at the same time is pretty low. We didn’t choose it - This genre is what happens when those opposing forces collide.

3. Did you know each other before forming the band?

Our paths crossed a few times in clubs like the Electric Ballroom and Slimelight in London. It seems obvious from that that there was a crossover, but it wasn’t obvious at the time - it didn’t come easily. We started out determined to convince each other that our taste in music was the one, true way, and that the other was a tone deaf idiot. In the end.. We decided to put up our dukes and make some noise together.

4. What is each band member's favorite band?

I think what you’ll find more interesting is whether there is one that we both agree on. And the answer is: No. But Type O Negative would be a near-miss that any Type O fan would understand.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

There are two sides to this - the words and the music. We usually write music before words, but not always. The words come from dark places, because these are dark songs for dark times. What we don’t do is ever write first-person lyrics about day-to-day life. There are no love songs to your pretty neighbor here. If you want to immerse yourself in an alternate timeline, with all the night-terrors of real-life made incarnate, then you are in the right place. The music is not so much a case of inspiration, but more compulsion. We want to hear this music, and it doesn’t exist yet. In the new single, Plague Town, you’ll hear dial-up modems and hammer drills, coalescing with old skool breaks and rave stabs. Things that, when you hear them together, sound great to us, but are unconventional together in music production, to say the least.

6. Where was your last gig?

That was at a club in London called LAVA. We’ve played there before, the audience is great, and the promoters, Fran and Grace, are absolute sweethearts. They’ve just released a new album, actually, with their band Amnesiak, so if you like epic-sounding doom, we would definitely recommend you go and check them out at https://www.instagram.com/amnesiakband/

7. Where would you like to perform in the future?

We’ve actually got some really exciting festival dates coming up in 2026, but can’t say too much more about them until they are officially announced! Watch this space - or if you’re reading this and working on a festival in 2026, get in touch!

8. Which artist or band would you like to collaborate with?

Earlier this year, we saw PIG live, and the whole band (including Jim Davies on guitar) was absolutely incredible. Duncan also got to interview Raymond Watts for his radio show and was giddy as a schoolboy about it. So, PIG, we would absolutely love to do something for.

9. Is there anyone you wouldn’t want to collaborate with?

Liam Howlett. Collaboration requires both parties to bring something to the table. He has brought everything, including the table. Not sure our venom could offer much to his poison. The man is, without a doubt, the best at his game.

10. Have any of you ever experienced stage fright? Do you have any tips for beginners on overcoming it?

Lean into it. Feel the fear and do it anyway. Besides, enjoy it, it’s what you are here to do. It will be tempting if you are new to it, to numb the fear with… stimulants. Don’t. Save them for afterward. Every moment on stage is a moment unlike any other moment in your life.

11. Which bands have influenced you the most?

We sometimes get described as “New Wave of Industrial Metal” - but if someone asks us, we just call it “heavy dance music”. At shows, we seem to appeal to guys in Morbid Angel cut-offs as much as hardened ravers and glamorous goths. And we love that. One of the big underground zines described our live show as a cross between Sepultura and The Prodigy - and we trust their ears on this much more than we trust our own!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Our listeners are beyond that. They are generally music enthusiasts who like finding things that are a bit unusual from the mainstream. We never get asked for anything weird - a selfie, or a signature on a CD - now that we actually have physical CDs at shows.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We don’t see our listeners as fans. We are all in this together. Nox Pulso isn’t just the two of us; it exists in the space between us all. Everybody is contributing in their own ways, and we’re so grateful for that. Thank you all.

14. What do you think of our site?

We really appreciate it - you’ve covered us before, as it happens, on our last single, “No Exit” - readers can see the video for that on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHa4fHJHeBU Thank you for continuing to support us!

15. Is there anything else you’d like to add?

First of all, thank you again to Breathing the Core and to your readers for having us here. Second of all, our new single, Plague Town, is out Sept 5th, so please go and check out the video here: https://youtu.be/9cxS2ZNe27A. And finally, the new album, TWO, is out October 3rd.
