Behind The Artworks: Nïsti - Sinner (Single) (2025)

For the artwork of the EP, we wanted something unique and abstract, yet something that could touch the viewer’s heart. Something that captures the paradoxical vibe of the music and complements the recorded sound waves with visuals on the same frequency.

For this, we needed someone who understands the music on a deep level, someone who knows the band members personally, who can grasp what’s on their minds. Someone whose creativity is so distinctive that it makes the EP truly stand out. At first, it felt unrealistic to find someone who fit that description. But we all knew who to turn to.

Anna is a great friend of ours and an active figure in the local metal scene. In the underground and alternative spaces of Aachen, where graffiti, paintings, and stickers overlap so chaotically that they blend into one another, Anna’s work always catches the eye. Her style is so unique that anyone can instantly recognize her pieces.

In Anna’s words: Creating the cover artwork for Lua Mater was quite challenging, until it wasn't. After the band reached out to me and provided a creative brief, I spent a couple of months stuck with a bunch of sketches, files and messy concepts. As time passed, I disliked everything I drew. One night, I decided to give it one last try and pour all my emotions onto the drawing board, not thinking whether the band would ultimately want to use the artwork. The result was a design that suited my mood and captured the raw, heavy, doomy spirit of the music. The legend of the Lua Mater goddess just happened to fit the theme perfectly, even though I hadn't intended the art style to go in this direction.
