Behind The Scenes: HOPELESS NATION - SILVERSPOON (Official Video)

What if you could take a song and make a world out of it, between fiction and reality, without a massive crew, without expensive 3D rendering, and without months of production? That is exactly what Hopeless Nation did with their new single Silverspoon. The goal was simple: make a video that feels different, push creative boundaries, and use AI technology to unlock possibilities that were nearly impossible until now.

A spoiled boy slips into a vivid dream, hurtling through deep space and envisioning himself as the ruler of a distant, mysterious world, a rising cult leader in a universe of his own making.

Every beat of this story was sketched during long walks with my dog, ideas written down as they came. Those fragments became a cohesive narrative with the help of ChatGPT, providing structure while leaving complete freedom to explore the visuals, tone, and rhythm of the story.

Early inspiration came from cinematic icons Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey and A Clockwork Orange, alongside Dune, Star Trek, and Mad Max. These classics set the tone, guiding framing, color, and mood, while AI tools allowed us to expand these references into something uniquely our own.

Every scene began as a locked single frame. We built stills first, shaping style and emotion before moving into motion.

Motion detection brought performances to life. We filmed ourselves playing and screaming, low-quality clips, and used Runway to map our movements directly onto custom characters. Those characters came from MidJourney or Veo-generated stills, depending on the look we were chasing. You have full control over movement intensity, looseness, and how the animation reacts, locking the energy onto the chosen character.

The audio narrative added another layer of depth. In the reality realm, it was created using both ElevenLabs text-to-speech and audio captured from Veo3-generated video scenes. Gemini Veo3 allows sound to follow every generated frame and can be finely controlled through prompts, giving the story voice in a way that blends fiction and reality seamlessly.

Each scene required trial, error, and careful shaping. Some frames broke in motion, some movements felt stiff or chaotic. We kept what worked, discarded what did not, and amplified imperfections to enhance the energy. The final cut was assembled by hand, timing and color grading every frame. AI created the raw material, but the storytelling and production process remained fully human.

Conclusion

We realize that the reception of using AI in video production can be positive when the concept is solid, which clearly was the case, given the feedback we’ve received. It was a passion project where time and care were invested. That said, Hopeless Nation won’t rely solely on AI to experiment. Mixing media and showing our real faces remain essential.

AI isn’t a replacement; it’s an amplifier. A clip like this a few years ago would have cost tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars, required a massive crew, endless renders, and months of effort. Today, achieving a similar result in a fraction of that time feels almost magical.

Silverspoon proves that when technology and human creativity collide, the possibilities are limitless.
