Interviews About Albums: Bastard Cröss - Crossripper (2025)

In this new interview, we sat down with the American Blackened Thrash Metal band, Bastard Cröss, to ask questions about their album "Crossripper"

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

This release, “Crossripper” has been in the works for over a year now, and we are excited for it to finally be released this Halloween. It feels good to release a proper full-length album after putting out a few EPs to the world.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

Crossripper is actually a nod to the original name of our band when we were still forming. We opted to call ourselves Bastard Cross after recalling some local friends of ours were in a band similarly named Crossspitter. The album and band names are intended to sound as intense as possible to allow potential listeners to  know they’re going to be hearing songs of primarily horror and blasphemous themes

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

All four of us have had a hand in writing the full-length, with one member, Blasphemous Axe, truly fleshing out each composition and layering the melodies to the aggressive riffs.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

We’d like to choose our self-titled track “Crossripper” as it really sums up the entire album in one track, the best out of all the songs.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

There are no deep messages in our lyrics; we write everything to be at face value, and the listeners can determine how serious or non-serious the nature of each song is, whether it is a song of beheading priests, of mummies, or of poltergeists

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

“So the year has passed to praise the savior of redemption
Resurrection of spirit made flesh eternal so we shall rot
Hailing to creations of their hatred foreboding their salvation
Marching towards the sacred lands unaware phantoms await their demise” - verse 2 from Phantom Pestilence

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

We truly want to thank our friend Armen of Red Mausoleum for being our number 1 supporter and critic since the very beginning. He’s helped us record everything while offering critiques on how to improve each song while in the studio.

8. Something to add?

Cheers and beers, go spin the album and check out the music video for Crossripper! Also, feel free to toss us a follow on Bandcamp, Facebook, and Instagram!
