Interviews About Albums: Dune Aurora - Ice Age Desert (2025)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Italian Fuzz Heavy Rock band, Dune Aurora, to ask questions about their album "Ice Age Desert". 

1.⁠ ⁠What can you say about Ice Age Desert?

Ice Age Desert is our first album, which will be released via Argonauta Records on November 21st. This album embodies our musical journey, especially since becoming a power trio. It is an ensemble of 9 tracks, among which we have decided to include an extended version of Fire, one of our past singles. The album will feature dark, heavy tracks alternating with fast rhythms. We like to alternate between fuzz-driven stoner riffs and psychedelic atmospheres.

2.⁠ ⁠What is the meaning of the album name?

The name comes from the expansion of the deserts during the last Ice Age. As in the name that we have chosen for our band, we wanted to convey a contrast between opposites, as well as recall the power that music has of making your mind and spirit trave,l even when your body is not physically moving. Considering the different moods of our songs, we think that it’s a title that well represents the whole album at the semantic level.

3.⁠ ⁠Which one is the composer of the Ice Age Desert?

Normally, we come together with ideas and we create our songs and reach the synergy we need.

4.⁠ ⁠If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

We are very attached to every single song we have composed. Fire came out very naturally, and we love it for the way we’ve been able to put our ideas together. Sunless Queen is a heavy and psychedelic monster that makes us travel with our spirits every single time we play it. Crocodile gives us a lot of energy. Se ponga el sol is a slow, dark, and powerful song that grows in intensity and creates a special connection among us while we play it.

5.⁠ ⁠Is there a special message in Ice Age Desert? If there is what it is?

We think that more than a message, to us, it is about the experience. In every song, we create a different setting inspired by nature, like the jungle as an oppressive and enclosed space, or the desert, the reign of hostility and freedom. We would like for people to get immersed in these worlds. We also focus a lot on the themes. In the album, we evoke the idea of travel and its connection to transformation, which is something we experience as a band, a journey that makes us change and evolve, learning from each other.

6.⁠ ⁠Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

We would like to share the lyrics of a new song that will be on our album. The title comes from a flower that easily adapts to all types of conditions, as well as from the color-changing animal.

We would like to thank all our friends and families who are there for us. Their love inspires us every day.

Ice Age Desert will be released on November 21st! The release party will take place in our hometown, and after that, we’ll start playing it in other cities in Italy and Europe. See you on the road!
