Interviews About Albums: Onsetcold – Apocalyptic Sleep (2025)
In this new interview, we sat down with the Symphonic Black Metal/Experimental Metal band, Onsetcold, to ask questions about their album "Apocalyptic Sleep".
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
I enjoyed writing and recording this album. At one point, I couldn’t see it as a whole, but over the past year, I found myself with these 10 tracks that form a cohesive body of work.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
"Apocalyptic Sleep" represents a state of dormant compliance without knowledge of its outcome - whether that outcome is true or not. That’s what I think about it at the moment.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
Shaq
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
Austere
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD?
I prefer that whoever listens to it takes whatever meaning they get from it. It’s open to personal interpretation.
6. Are there some lyrics that you’d love to share?
Under the Nuclear Sun The light in the shade fades the sun Closing in Closing somber forever The night is here for yearsLooking back, I remember being awake The sun, the pressure All around the year, Light in the shed fades the sun To make me all alone
It has been four years, looking back, I remember Where If I go outside, will the shadow be the end in sight? Turmoil, if I go outside Reality again
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Musically or friends, family, someone you’d love to thank especially?
Dan Mullins (My Dying Bride) for sharpening the chaos in the mix and master, Seiza Friedrich for vocals, and the album art cover, an oil painting titled "A Morning Filled with 400 Billion Suns."
8. Something to add?
Writing and recording metal is fun.
