Interviews About Albums: Roger Bacon - Out The Frying Pan (2025)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Scottish Rock band, Roger Bacon, to ask questions about their album "Out The Frying Pan"

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

‘Out the Frying Pan’ is a collection of songs that have been ruthlessly narrowed down from our live set to end up with the best 5 songs we have. It serves as a statement of what you can expect on stage and in our future releases - raw, DIY and unapologetically ourselves.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

‘Out the Frying Pan’ comes from our ethos that as a band, you must evolve or die out. We have moved from the comfort of rehearsal rooms and put our music out there to be enjoyed, scrutinised or skipped. A trial by fire - but an essential one for our growth as a band.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

All four members of the band (Jack and Strath Ferguson, Reuben John and Tommy McKenzie-Rey) share split writing credit on all songs, with occasional help from our producer Campbell McPherson.

4. If you have to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Our favourite song off the EP is Shank. It’s the song that started it all for us, and we still think it’s our strongest to date. For the EP, we wanted to give it some special treatment, so we re-recorded a newer and clearer version so it fits in with the standard of the rest. We think you’ll all like it too.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

The message of ‘Out the Frying Pan’ is that anybody can create music they love. DIY ethos is in our DNA as a band, and we firmly believe that as long as you are resourceful and driven, you can start releasing music, playing venues you never thought you’d play and develop a great community that backs you the entire way. Stop waiting for the perfect moment - just grab it!

6. Are there some lyrics that you´d love to share?

Fix yo’self.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

We’d like to thank our amazing producer and resident miracle worker, Campbell, as well as Jay, our manager. We’d also like to thank our friends who showed up to our gigs, streamed our songs and continue to do so.
