Interviews About Albums: Solar Sons - Altitude (2025)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Scottish Heavy Metal band, Solar Sons, to ask questions about their album "Altitude"

1. What can you say about Altitude?

Hello there! Altitude is our 6th studio album, it’s an ode to Black Sabbath, ZZ Top, Thin Lizzy, Maiden, and all the great bands of that era. It’s an album we hope you have fun listening to.

2. What is the meaning of the album name?

Getting high! Haha, only joking. It’s the title track, and the song is about driving out of the city, at dusk, into the hills and mountains upriver. Our homeland of Scotland influenced our writing, as the wild outdoors is never too far from the cities here. It's about uplifting yourself, even through hard times.

3. Which one is the composer of the Altitude?

Everyone contributed to writing, much like all our albums. Danny wrote a lot of the riffs and initial song ideas. Rory added many lyrics, structure, and Melodies. Pete brought many grooves and lyrical passages.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Danny - OG
Pete - Right On
Rory - Head First

5. Is there a special message in Altitude? If there is what it is?

It’s a simple message, about enjoying life. Being resilient, seeking happiness through the tried and tested riff worship method! Be good, have fun.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

There’s a spoken word section in Headfirst, it springs to mind.

We all stand confused at the edge of time
Many of us already lost and never to be found
If this is all that there is then that's enough for me
But if there's more then let's go find

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Great question, I would say family and friends big time. Also, our bond as a band over the years. The passion to write and play live music. Bringing people together, feeling the power that can go through a room full of strangers, when everyone is feeling the music. It’s intoxicating, and we love that drive to create music that can hopefully do this.

8. Something to add?

Thanks to all our fans, friends and family, and anyone who's supported us over the years. We really appreciate it. To anyone newly discovering us, howdy, jump in for the ride! Cheers, Solar Sons - Danny, Rory & Pete
