Interviews: Blossoms Fall
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band, Blossoms Fall, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. What is your name, and what do you do in the band?
My name is Matt Torres, and I sing and play guitar in the band
2. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it or came out just like that?
I’ve had an obsession with Japanese culture from a young age and have always admired the
cultural concept of how blossoms represent the cycle and fragility of life. Blossoms Fall portrays
the inevitable death aspect, and I thought that sounded pretty Metal
3. Why did you want to play this genre?
Metalcore and Post-Hardcore have been an obsession of mine since I got into heavy music, and
I’ve always wanted to create music in that space
4. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
I knew Dion very well before starting the band; we had played together in our previous band, Lights on the Coast. I had known Shay briefly from the Albuquerque music scene
5. Each band member's favourite band?
My favourite band currently is Livealie, Shays is Deadlands, and Dion’s is Thy Art is Murder
6. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Any band that I come across with an equal ratio of heaviness to melody is always an inspiration. I
like the best of both worlds.
7. Where was your last gig?
Blossoms Fall has yet to play our first gig, but our first show will be a local holiday event in
December at a local Albuquerque venue, El Rey
8. Where would you like to act?
House of Blues or Chain Reaction would be a dream to play, not to mention any arena
9. Whom would you like to feature with?
I would absolutely love to feature with bands like Alpha Wolf, Saving Vice or Aphasia
10. Whom not?
There aren’t any bands off the top of my head that I wouldn’t want to feature with, I’m usually
very open to pretty much anything
11. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
I’ve definitely suffered from stage fright in my earlier days of playing shows, but usually, if I’m
prepared enough, stage fright is basically non-existent for me at this point
12. What bands have inspired you the most?
One of my biggest inspirations over time has been bands like Dream On, Dreamer, as well as
more modern bands like Polaris and Sienna Skies
13. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
I can’t think of anything too odd or out of the ordinary, but I have been asked for merch by a
proclaimed gang member who didn’t quite look like they listened to Metal, let alone Metalcore,
while on tour once. This was in Brownsville, TX, a few years ago
14. What do you think of your fans?
I love my fans and really anyone who expresses interest in my music. They keep us motivated
and serve as a reminder that music is a communal interest. Nothing feels more human than the
bond over music.
15. What do you think of our site?
I think the site is pretty cool, and it looks like Breathing the Core does a lot for the Metal scene
and is very involved in the music. I fully support the cause
16. Something to add?
I appreciate the opportunity to interview, and I hope that our music makes an impact. We look
forward to the future of the Metal scene and how we fit into the scene after our emergence
