Interviews: Gallowglas

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Metal band Gallowglas, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just happen organically?

Don first brought it to the table very early on, and we all really liked the idea of being named after a Scot/Irish mercenary warrior class. So yeah, it was very organic. Born from bullshitting with each other.

2. Why did you choose to play this genre?

We didn't choose it; it chose us. We're all metalheads from a young age, and that shit is in our blood.

3. Did you know each other before forming the band?

Yes, all of us knew each other from other regional bands, and two of us were in the same band before Gallowglas.

4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We inspire each other when we get in a room and jam. There's a lot of talent in this band, so it's not hard to get excited when guys bring something new to the table. Everything doesn't always pan out, but even bad ideas spawn more ideas.

5. Where was your last gig?

Our last notable gig was when we had the honor of playing a set at the final edition of the legendary Maryland Doomfest.

6. Where would you like to perform in the future?

We would love to get a spot on a festival like the Decibel Metal and Beer Fest, Milwaukee Metal Fest, or the like. That's the pie in the sky outlook.

7. Have any of you ever experienced stage fright? Do you have any tips for beginners on overcoming it?

I think we all have and still do to some degree. There's always pre-show jitters. For stage fright, my advice would be to keep going out there every chance you get. If you have the balls to take a stage in the first place, you're really gonna hate it when you aren't doing it.

8. Which bands have influenced you the most?

Black Sabbath, Pantera, Lamb of God, Testament, Gojira, and the list goes on....

9. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are mostly our friends, but metal fans in general are the most down-to-earth, loyal, hilarious, intense, kind, and giving people you will ever meet.

10. What do you think of our site?

Your site rules. Cool mix of known and unknown titles. It's a great way to discover bands you've never heard of and keep up with ones you have. We're looking forward to being on it ourselves!

10. Is there anything else you’d like to add?

We appreciate you giving us the opportunity to talk about our band and the new release. Hope to work with you again soon!
