Interviews: Myth Of Logic
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Rock project, Myth Of Logic, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
It was just one of those things, honestly. We had another name in place, but it was pointed out how dumb it was.
I like the duality of it and it rolls off the tongue nicely.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I can’t recall a time when progressive rock (or prog) wasn’t part of my intent. My Dad exposed me to Emerson Lake &
Palmer and that was it for me. I like music that challenges me on all levels. Prog suits my temperament.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
I’ve known Jerry Outlaw (lead guitar) for many years. We’ve been great friends for a long time. I mostly perform all the
music alone. But when it was time to invite other musicians to the party, Jerry was at the top of my list. David Pate
(saxophone) is someone I have admired for many years hearing him perform with Jerry in Bogus Pomp. Chris Barbosa
(violin) was suggested by Jerry as someone who might be able to lean into the Robby Steinhardt metaphysic for me. He
was absolutely correct.
4. Each band member favourite band?
We all have such wide and varied tastes that the answer might be different on different days. As for me (Scott G. Davis)
Emerson Lake & Palmer will always stand above the rest.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
That’s a good question. My process is a bit unorthodox. I think very cinematically and tend to write to suit a story most
of the time. In recent years, any time I walk into the studio and turn on the instruments a song comes out. I’ve been
fortunate in that respect. As long as the faucet is on, I’ll keep washing my hands.
6. Where was your last gig?
At present, Myth Of Logic is a studio animal. If demand presents itself there may someday be Myth Of Logic
performances. But not today.
7. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
In my performing years, I was always nervous, but never had what I would call “stage fright”. I was normally most
comfortable on stage. And when you are comfortable all things are possible.
8. What bands have inspired you the most?
E.L.P., Kansas, Rush, Yes, Genesis, Saga
9. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
An autograph.
10. What do you think of your fans?
I mostly make these records for myself. I want to HEAR them. I’m very pleased when others want to hear them as well.
