Interviews: Plague Of The Fallen

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal band, Plague Of The Fallen, from New Zealand. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE. 

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just happen organically?

My brother's old band had an EP coming out way back in the day, but they hadn't come up with a name for it. One of the names they thought of was Plague of the Fallen. When they named the release something else, I asked to use the name for the band.

2. Why did you choose to play this genre?

Everyone in the band has been into metal since we were young, and we have all been involved with different Metal and Death Metal projects over the years. Fast and aggressive music has just always made sense to us.

3. Did you know each other before forming the band?

Most of our bands had played shows together over the years, so we knew of each other through that, but we were situated in different parts of the country. Fortunately, we eventually all ended up living in the same city.

4. What is each band member's favorite band?

Vinnie: Hate Eternal.

Stu: Nile.

Dan: Meshuggah.

Nesh: The Zenith Passage.

Nag: Ulcerate.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Musically, we are inspired by a lot of the bands we grew up listening to, as well as watching all the great local bands performing, and just wanting to create our noise and our own style of Death Metal.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was one that we ran ourselves, called Dogfest, which was in our hometown of Christchurch. The show had 10 bands from around New Zealand and raised money for a local animal rescue.

7. Where would you like to perform in the future?

We have aspirations of performing at an international metal festival, and anywhere outside of New Zealand that enjoys Death Metal.

8. Which artist or band would you like to collaborate with?

Bands like Suffocation and Hate Eternal would be sick to collaborate with. We also have our good friend Connor from a band called NO LIFE featured on one of our new songs, which was something we had been looking forward to doing for a while.

9. Is there anyone you wouldn’t want to collaborate with?

Anyone with clean vocals.

10. Have any of you ever experienced stage fright? Do you have any tips for beginners on overcoming it?

Everyone feels nervous, and it can also be a great source of energy if you breathe through it and have fun showcasing your music.

11. Which bands have influenced you the most?

Bands like Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, Hate Eternal, and Deeds of Flesh have always been a massive inspiration for us.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing too weird yet..

13. What do you think of your fans?

We appreciate anyone who supports us by coming to a show or buying some merch.

The site is a great source for new releases and bands of different styles to check out.
