Interviews: Set For Tomorrow
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore/Alternative Metal band, Set For Tomorrow, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE. All the interview questions have been answered by vocalist Eyker.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it or came out just like that?
The name was already here prior to most of the current lineup, but it's also become sort of our mantra for being prepared for the future. We’ve never sat around and waited for opportunities; we try to find them ourselves. The band has several members who've even created successful businesses from skills we learned for the band initially, such as production, media, design, etc.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We all have different influences, but I feel like metalcore has a fun way of mashing a bunch of genres together! We’re also all followers of the alternative scene and work within it!
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Everyone basically played in other bands around an old lineup of SFT and met over time! I remember originally meeting Mikey covering Underoath at a live band emo karaoke!
4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Speaking for myself, I had a family friend growing up named Marlin who was a self-taught guitar player. Being the “older” friend, I thought he was super cool and wanted to be like him. My parents decided they’d support me and put me in guitar lessons, thinking it'd also help me “academically.” But I’m a knucklehead, and the opposite happened, and I couldn't stop focusing on music. In 2007, my friend passed away from a car accident, and I was determined to take this music thing as far as it could go. From the age of 13, I never looked back.
5. Where was your last gig?
The last show we played was in Chapel Hill, NC, with Dead Eyes. Love those guys, shout out to them for taking us out!
6. Where would you like to act?
I would kill to get a voice acting gig for a TV show or land some fantasy, thriller, or even superhero acting role.
7. Whom would you like to feature with?
Stay tuned and find out!!
8. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
Absolutely! I think the nervous/excitement preshow feeling doesn't ever fully go away. I always tell people to just go for it. Fake your confidence and you’ll be surprised by how quickly the stage becomes your second home. Invest in yourself and your craft. The more comfortable you are playing your stuff alone, the easier it gets in front of people.
9. What bands have inspired you the most?
Bring Me The Horizon has always been an inspiration to me in this genre. I’ve always loved how they just do what they want, and a lot of the scene follows. I’d love nothing more than for us to be unapologetically ourselves and continue to release what we want without intentionally following any “trends.”
10. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
I might age myself a little bit, but I learned what a “.5” picture was on the last tour. Two fans were arguing over who was gonna have me take the picture while we were getting ready to start playing. It was funny. If you don’t know what a .5 is, it's a close perspective photo, angled like a selfie cam from your nose!
11. What do you think of your fans?
Our fans are incredible. Every single accomplishment or opportunity we have is all thanks to them. We are in shock every time we hear of someone crossing state lines to come to more than one show on the same tour. Huge, huge thank you to all of our fans, family, and friends.
12. What do you think of our site?
Thank you for having us! We massively appreciate you and your platform!
13. Something to add?
We have tons of cool stuff on the way! We release our full version
