Track By Tracks: Tria Prima - The Mortificatio (2025)

1. Arx Fatalis:

The song "Arx Fatalis" tells the story of a witch obsessed with divine power and eternal knowledge. Hearing the voice of a false deity, she journeys to a cursed fortress - Arx Fatalis, an ancient place where death and darkness sleep under lock and key. There, she prepares for a ritual that opens the gates between heaven and hell and, blinded by her lust for power, releases an ancient beast imprisoned within the fortress's walls.

2. Mortificatio:

The song "Mortificatio" describes a dark ritual in which a witch summons an ancient evil from the other world. To the sound of thunder and the bloody glow of a circle, she opens the gate between the living and the dead, upsetting the forbidden balance. From the depths of chaos, a monster arises - a soulless and cold embodiment of death, created from dust and suffering.

3. Actum Exitium:

The song "Actum Exitium" concludes the story of the witch and the ancient evil, begun in the previous parts, "Arx Fatalis" and "Mortificatio." The apocalypse unfolds - the unleashed monster breaks free, destroying all life. The earth turns into hell, cities crumble, the sky falls, and the witch herself realises her fatal mistake.

She watches as the nightmare she created engulfs the world, but she can no longer change anything - her power has drained, her prayers remain unanswered. In the finale, the witch dies amid the ruins of her own creation, and the monster rises beyond reality, tearing apart the universe itself. "Actum Exitium" is a hymn to final destruction, the final act of the world's destruction and the witch's own fall, a victim to her own lust for power.

4. Transmutation:

The song "Transmutation" tells the story of a man's agonising transformation into a monster. The protagonist awakens to find his body and mind warped - his skin ripping, his bones reshaping, and ominous whispers emanating from within. Gradually, he loses control, transforming into a crazed, bloodthirsty creature. Through pain and horror, he realises he is no longer human - an alchemy of flesh and soul has transformed him into something else. In the end, the protagonist realises there is no turning back: the monster he has become is now his true self.

5. Magnum Opus:

The song "Magnum Opus" is the philosophical and symbolic culmination of the cycle, dedicated to the alchemical process of inner transformation. It describes a journey through suffering, death, and rebirth - a spiritual transmutation where a person destroys their former self to achieve a higher state of consciousness.

The lyrics draw on the stages of the alchemical Great Work - Nigredo, Albedo, Citrinitas, and Rubedo - which symbolise the purification of the soul through darkness, pain, awareness, and enlightenment. In the song, this becomes a metaphor for a painful spiritual experience: the flesh is destroyed, the mind is shattered, but from the ashes a new being is born - a union of matter and spirit.

6. Arcanum Six:

"Arcanum Six" is a song about the duality of human nature, the power of love as a blessing and a curse, and the eternal struggle between fate and free will.

The song is based on the symbolism of the sixth Major Arcana of the Tarot - The Lovers, which represents the choice between two paths: love and temptation, spiritual and material, light and shadow.

In the lyrics, the hero stands at a crossroads of destinies, where the choice of the heart becomes an alchemical act - the union or destruction of souls.

7. Porta Alchemica:

The song "Porta Alchemica" tells of the forbidden search for absolute knowledge and the price one must pay for attempting to comprehend truth through alchemy. The protagonist, an alchemist driven by a thirst for wealth and power, opens the legendary Gates of Alchemy, an ancient portal concealing the truth of existence. But this knowledge is cursed: every step toward perfection requires sacrifice, and every coin is minted from human souls.

The song's lyrics explore the idea of human pride and destruction through knowledge. The alchemist attempts to transcend divine laws by transmuting flesh into gold, but his ambitions turn against him - body and mind dissolve in the fire of transmutation.
