Behind The Scenes: Maps And Foils - Nulle Part (Official Video)

'Nulle Part' was the first song written for the album. The idea was to make something really dynamic like what Refused did on The Shape of Punk to Come. For example, we recorded the quiet parts with a couple of microphones in a narrow frequency range so when the big riffs and drums explode in your face with the full production, it really jumps at your throat. There is also an unhinged feeling going on with the sludgy guitars and the pitchy vocals to put the listener out of his comfort zone.

Lyrically, the song reflects on how artists have become salesmen and content creators just to survive in a capitalist system we can't seem to overcome. Branding has been an art form a long time now, and I'm not sure it's for the best.

The music video was shot in a couple of hours with zero budget and the same old tricks we used to shoot the music videos of 'Infernal' and 'Dies Irae' on our previous EP. The found footage aesthetic is very much a reaction against the bombastic videos in modern metalcore and about what I said earlier. Most people are listening to music with their eyes through social medias and it becomes hard to find the balance between what you want to express and how people are willing to consume it.
