Interviews About Albums: River Rise - Changing Seasons (2025)
In this new interview, we sat down with the Brazilian Rock/Hard Rock band, River Rise, to ask questions about their album "Changing Seasons".
1. What can you say about this new CD?
“Changing Seasons” is our third studio album and is sonically denser compared to our previous works. The songs emerged in different tunings, tones, and time signatures, and then, suddenly, the album took shape and ended up becoming a turning point in our career, and we are really proud of the result. We composed, produced, and recorded the album in the band’s studio in 2024.
2. What is the meaning of the CD name?
We were reflecting on time, on our experiences and lives, on how things are never the same, but at the same time, it seems that we experience certain situations repeatedly, like a cyclical movement. So, I thought about the changing of the seasons, then the name came to me, and it sounded so right.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD?
The first song, “The river won’t stop for me” was composed by Márcio Arend (guitarist), me, Juliana von Mühlen (singer), Ozéias Rodrigues (bassist), and Marcelo PEsh (drummer). The other songs were composed by Márcio and by me.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
That's a very difficult question. I really don't know. I think it depends on the day or how I'm feeling at a given moment. But for those who are not yet familiar with the band, I recommend starting with the song "Harvesttime!" as a first listen.
5. Is there a special message on this CD? If there is what it is?
I think the most important message here is: after the storm, there will be calm, and then the storm again. So don't worry so much and seize the moments you have with your family and friends, and try to appreciate the simple things in life. Remember: the seasons are always changing.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
I'd like to share a line from the song "Nearly There"—these were the words that inspired the artist, Vinnie Zaleski, who painted the cover of our album. “Tonight the clouds are gone, and the landscape’s your gaze as we move on”. These words have a profound meaning for me and represent a change I went through in my life.
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?
In 2023, I discovered a serious health problem, so it would have been impossible for Márcio and me not to be impacted by the time we spent in the hospital and by the lessons we learned during that period. The album is a reflection of these last two years. We are grateful to be here, to be alive, and to be talking to you right now.
8. Something to add?
I’d like to thank "Breathing the Core" for giving us the opportunity to talk about our album and to everyone who listens to our music and supports us. If you want to talk about anything, send us a message: info@riverriseband
