Interviews: Killcode

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock band, Killcode, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just happen organically?

The name KILLCODE came together pretty naturally. It’s actually a military term that means cleaning house after an attack, wiping everything out, and starting fresh. We liked the strength of that idea, and it just fit the attitude of the band.

2. Why did you choose to play this genre?

Hard rock has always been in our blood. It’s the music we grew up on, the music that shaped us, and the music that still drives us today. It’s honest, powerful, and gives us the perfect outlet to express what we’re about.

3. Did you know each other before forming the band?

Some of us knew each other through the New York music scene before KILLCODE formed...It came together through friendships, shared shows, and timing. Once we finally played together...the chemistry was instant.

4. What is each band member’s favorite band?

We all bring different influences to the table:

Tom (vocals): Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Public Enemy

DC (guitar): Motorhead and the Cult

Chas: Kiss and AC/DC

Bobby Flores (bass): Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails

Robnoxious (drums): Jane's Addiction and Our Lady Peace

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Real life inspires me. Everything I write comes from actual experiences ...love, struggle, loss, chaos, growth, the hang, and the hangover. If I’m not feeling it, I can’t sing it. And once I bring it to the band, they elevate it into something bigger.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last local New York City show was a couple of months ago at FirstLive in Brooklyn, celebrating the release of our single and video for “One Trick Pony.” Our last stateside gig was in Los Angeles at Three of Clubs, hosted by our friend DJ Tommy London. Internationally, our most recent shows were at the Hard Rock Hell Festival in the UK and a mini-tour we did in Puerto Rico.

7. Where would you like to perform in the future?

We’d love to play places we haven’t hit yet... Japan and Australia. And we’re definitely ready for more Europe and UK dates. A full world tour would be on the list.

8. Which artist or band would you like to collaborate with?

I’d love to collaborate with Chris Cornell or Myles Kennedy, and working with Rick Rubin as a producer would be a dream. We’re always open to anyone who brings passion, authenticity, and attitude to the table.

9. Is there anyone you wouldn’t want to collaborate with?

We’re open-minded, but we only collaborate with people who respect the craft and bring the same level of commitment. If someone’s in it for the wrong reasons. It’s not a fit.

10. Have any of you ever experienced stage fright? Do you have any tips for beginners on overcoming it?

Definitely, everyone gets nervous at some point. The trick is using that energy instead of fighting it. My advice... take a breath and remember why you’re on stage. Once the music starts, the nerves disappear.

11. Which bands have influenced you the most?

Basically the same answer as #4

12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We’ve been asked to sign some pretty unusual things ... You never know what someone will hand you.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We have incredibly loyal and passionate fans. They bring the fire every time, and they’ve stuck with us through every chapter. They’re not just fans....they’re family.

14. What do you think of our site?

You help keep rock alive by giving bands a real platform. We appreciate sites that support both new and established artists!

15. Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Just a huge thank you to everyone who listens, shares, and spreads the :::CODE:::. We’ve got more music, more videos, and more shows coming, and we can’t wait to see you all out there.
