Interviews: Open Window

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock band, Open Window, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their INSTAGRAM PROFILE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? You planned it, or it came out like that?

“Open Window’ comes from a lyric to one of our early songs – Look Beyond. The lyric goes, “I look beyond your eyes [in a] photograph I have; an open window to your lies.”

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I (Daniel) wouldn’t say I ever made a conscious choice to play music in a particular genre. I was exposed to rock music and a young age and simply never looked back.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

James and Daniel first met years before in a prior project. John and Daniel were recording artists together in the band, Asa Cruz. And we all met Wayne at the start of Open Window. However, the four of us have become more than just bandmates. We consider ourselves to be brothers.

4. Each band member’s favourite band?

Daniel - Led Zeppelin.

James – Van Halen

Wayne – Van Halen

John – Motley Crue 

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Anything and everything! Each song comes about in its own way. For Close Your Eyes, the inspiration was me (Daniel) thinking about someone whom I care very much about, if/when I have to go away for a long time, or perhaps forever.

6. Where was your last gig?

Universal City Walk, Los Angeles, CA

7. Where would you like to perform?

Anywhere with a killer sound system and where our fans would appreciate us to be.

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Def Leppard Foo Fighters.

9. Whom not?

Anyone who is a pompous asshole.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Personally (Daniel), no. But I do get a little nervous before each performance. My advice would be simple - to borrow from Nike – “Just Do It”.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

So many. But to name a few in no particular order: Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Van Halen, The Beach Boys, U2, Queen. Too many to mention ,really.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We are very discreet.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are flippin’ awesome!

14. What do you think of our site?

Kick ass! We think it’s awesome that you provide such a great vehicle to bring exposure to bands, especially the Indies!

15. Something to add?

Why should our readers check out the track ‘Close Your Eyes’? That is a great question. I can say that the filming of the Music Video was such an amazing experience. Our film crew was young, ambitious, and brought a lot of excitement and energy to the shoot. We really went into the shoot with no preconceptions. We each leaned into our performances and worked diligently to stay on schedule. From there, we entrusted the Director to create his vision for the video. To answer your question, I would say, check it out to see the results when a group of artists (Film and Music) work very hard at contributing to a common goal.
