Band Biographies: Project MishraM
Project MishraM is a progressive Carnatic fusion band from Bangalore, known for a fearless and technically sophisticated blend of Indian classical music and contemporary Western genres. Their sound draws from modern progressive metal and djent, while seamlessly weaving in funk, jazz, and electronic elements—all anchored in the complexity of Indian ragas, dense rhythmic frameworks, syncopation, and mathematically driven grooves. The result is a distinctive, high-energy sonic identity that sits at the intersection of tradition and extreme modernity.
In September 2024, MishraM performed at the iconic Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky (USA), playing to a staggering crowd of over 200,000 attendees. The festival featured some of the biggest names in heavy music, including Slayer, Anthrax, Slipknot, Five Finger Death Punch, Korn, Gojira, Breaking Benjamin, Mötley Crüe, Sum 41, Evanescence, Judas Priest, and more than 130 other internationally renowned acts—placing MishraM on one of the largest global stages of their career.
The band made their European debut in August 2023 with an ambitious tour spanning 11 shows across seven countries. Highlights included a performance at ArcTanGent Festival 2023, where MishraM shared the stage with genre-defining artists such as Heilung, Haken, and Devin Townsend, earning attention from new audiences across the progressive and experimental music scenes.
Within India, MishraM has built a strong reputation through performances at major live music venues nationwide and a standout appearance on the prestigious Music Mojo (Kappa TV, Season 5). They were crowned winners of Maruti Suzuki Colors of Youth Season 7 in 2018 and have since been supported by a range of prominent organizations and brands, including TEDx, Air India, Maruti Suzuki NEXA, Monster Energy, and FabIndia.
In 2021, MishraM released their debut progressive fusion album Meso to widespread critical acclaim. The album was long-listed for both “Best Album of the Year” and “Best New Artist” at the 2021 Grammy® Awards, marking a significant milestone for the band. MishraM’s catalog has since crossed 500,000 streams across platforms, reflecting a rapidly growing global audience and solidifying their position as one of the most exciting acts in the modern progressive fusion space.
