Interviews About Albums: ANGERSEED - Rapture Is Mine... Glory is Ours (2025)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Hungarian Death Metal band, ANGERSEED, to ask questions about their album "Rapture Is Mine... Glory Is Ours"

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

Greetings to all our dear readers! We are more than happy to have you reach out and talk to you about the new album. Let me start by saying that ‘Rapture is Mine… Glory is Ours’ is not an EP, but a full-fledged album, which I could tell you a lot about, but I’ll try to be relatively brief. Making any album is a very difficult process, but this new album was an exponentially difficult birth, as I put the songs together completely alone. The story of the material began during the Covid era in 2020, when I ‘collected’ the ideas of the two guitarists of the line-up at the time, so to speak, and my plan was that instead of creating in the rehearsal room, I would put the songs together at home.

It was like that in the past, by the way, most of the song structures were due to me, only then did the songs take shape in the room. Then COVID forced me to develop the songs from the themes at home, since we couldn't rehearse. Later, this line-up fell apart, but the songwriters left the themes to me, and this is how a 10-track demo was put together in the spring of 2021, which was very hard work, because in addition to putting the songs together, I also wrote the lyrics and came up with the concept for them.

After the demo was finished, I tried to jump into working on the album with several line-ups, but none of these attempts were successful. In the spring of 2023, I decided I couldn’t wait any longer, so my bassist, Zoltán Bilcsik, and me started looking for session members for the album. We asked our old friend, Péter ‘Losi’ Losonczi, who is the guitarist for Radar and Crowhill Tales, and is very agile and talented. After Losi was already with us, we decided to invite our former drummer, József Gáva, as he has been playing with Losi ever since. Joci also agreed and then returned to the concerts as well. So these four of us started to thoroughly develop the demos, both online and live. Losi played a huge role in this, but more on that later. By 2024, the songs had reached their almost final forms, partly through joint brainstorming, partly through individual work, to which everyone contributed. This is the story of the album in short, and during the year 2024-25, we recorded the instruments and the vocals, sent them to mix and mastering. The album was finally released digitally in November 2025. It will come out on CD on January 10, 2026.

2. What is the meaning of the CD name?

The title of the album has actually been around for a long time. I came up with the first version of the title more than 15 years ago. Its meaning can be both quite personal and general; the phrase 'Rapture is Mine' can apply to anyone who can successfully overcome problems and close difficult stages of their life, just as I led this band and this album to success. The fact that this album was released after so much struggle is a huge joy for me, and 'Glory is Ours' suggests that although our line-up changes frequently, the success of a band, like the creation of this album, is the joint work, merit, and success of four people. This is how the title of the album makes sense. There are many other interpretations of the title, and I think everyone can relate to it in one way or another, just like with song titles. By the way, the album and song titles, as well as the lyrics, are very important to me, as they were put together with a lot of hard work and are very well thought out. I hope that many people will read the lyrics of the songs, which I will talk about later.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD?

As I mentioned above, the themes for the songs on the album were mainly brought by two people, two older members who were still in the band in 2020, at the beginning of the process. By name, guitarist Róbert Barabás, who played guitar with us during 2020 and 2021, and bassist Attila Dudás, who was a member of the band between 2019 and 2021. They brought most of the themes, from which I assembled the songs together, but Peti Losonczi also contributed a lot in terms of melodies and harmonies. The Hungarian-language bonus song (Epilógus / Számvetés 33) comes from József Sós, and the interesting thing is that most of the lyrics came from him, although I wrote a lot and changed it quite a bit compared to the basic version. This is our very first lyrics that I didn't write alone.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Well, it's really hard to highlight only one song, since they're all my children, so to speak, I have serious emotional ties to them. I put the songs together from riffs, longer and shorter themes, and since I worked a lot on the songs, it's almost impossible to choose one. What I would like to highlight first is the bonus song of the album. The lyrics there are very important to me, because they summarize my 33-year music career so far, and the song really sums everything up very sensitively. If I had to pick one of the Death Metal songs, after a very, very long thought, I would probably highlight Barathrum of Consciousness or The Emptiness Within. The first because there is a lot going on in it and it draws from many genres, and the second is that it is an unusually slow-paced song for us, which also has many interesting parts and solutions.

5. Is there a special message on this CD? If there is what it is? Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

Actually, all of our albums are loose concept albums; it’s important to know that, and this one is one of them, but this one has more esoteric lyrics. While the previous ‘Forever Burning Hatred’ EP operated with a more angry, disillusioned, disappointed lyrics – those were the influences I had at the time – now I’ve delved into a more spiritual stream of thought, which is still quite dark, since the world hasn’t become a better place since then. The basic idea is that we do have to find the solution within ourselves, and we have to do everything we can to improve our situation. But of course, the lyrics are about much more than that. As I mentioned, lyrics are very important to me, and I would like as many people as possible to read our lyrics. It would also be great if as many people as possible translated the Hungarian bonus track lyrics, especially since there are quite a few ‘easter eggs’ hidden in it. I’m curious to see who will notice them!

6. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Our inspirations also cover a very wide spectrum, so it’s impossible to answer this in full and in real detail, as all four of us have completely different approaches and come from completely different backgrounds. The common point is, of course, Death Metal, which all four of us love, and everyone brought their individual talents to it. I could talk a little more about my own approach: although each of us has a broad perspective, since I am the oldest, I have been following the music world since the early 80s, so I have a lot of old favorites. I can say without exaggeration that my perspective is very broad, and although it may not be obvious in my singing style at first, I have always tried to bring as many influences as possible into both the vocals and the songs.

In terms of lyrics and vocal themes, I practically approach each song as if I were singing 'normally', and I want to convey serious thoughts with my lyrics. Of course, in this genre, the lyrics are often more difficult to understand, and - unfortunately - the genre is not overly text-centric, although I would like the fans to delve deeper into the lyrics and listen to the messages. As I said, we have a lot of influences, but I won't list bands, because in this case, we would probably have to go through all the hard music genres and bands that can be found, starting from the rock music of the 70s to today. Our music is made up of these, of course, not losing sight of the fact that Death Metal is the main line of the structure.

7. Something to add?

I could say a lot more in closing, but the most important thing is that on the one hand we thank you very much for the interview, and on the other hand we are very happy that the album has reached so many places and that we have received such reactions to it. The two labels that released the album also play a big role in this: Metal Ör Die Records (HU) and Pest Records (RO), so a big thank you to them! But what gives me the greatest joy is that people felt that this album is about very deep topics, that it represents something completely different from previous materials, and that they do all this conceptually. This change was conscious; I wanted to go in a completely new direction and achieve it with this album.

This has been achieved, and the reactions, feedback, and criticisms so far have been clearly positive – people have clearly seen that this is now completely different from the direction the band has been in so far. Of course, we will always remain a Death Metal band, but I imagined a different, more song-centric approach, and to my great joy, I managed to fully realize this. There can be no greater joy for a musician than this, and I trust that with this album, we can really accomplish what our previous releases failed to do for various reasons. My only wish is for the album to reach as many places as possible, for as many people to get to know it, and for as many people to notice that this material is really very strong and really wants something different.

Finally, thank you again for the interview. Follow us, and we hope to meet everyone live sooner or later! Greetings to everyone, carry the flame forward, Underground forever!!!
