Interviews About Albums: DemUnillusions - Dawn Feat Recharge/Dawn Of Recharge (2026)
In this new interview, we sat down with the Dutch Orchestral Metal band DemUnillusions to ask questions about their double EP "Dawn Feat Recharge/Dawn Of Recharge".
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
This release is not just a collection of songs for us, but a meaningful stage in the development of the project. Dawn FEAT. Recharge is a dialogue between the past and the present sound of DemUnillusions - between the original versions of the compositions and their new interpretations through guest vocalists. It is not an experiment for the sake of experimentation, but an expansion of musical form while preserving the essence, atmosphere, and identity of the band.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
Dawn represents a beginning, a starting point, a new cycle. Recharge represents renewal, reset, and restored energy. Together, they reflect a phase of development - not a change of identity, but a transition into a new form where the core of DemUnillusions remains intact while its musical and conceptual space expands.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
The main compositional work belongs to DemUnillusions and Thomas Dezmond. The music was created as a unified authorial vision. Guest vocalists add new emotional shades, but the musical structure, concept, and foundation of the release remain consistent and authorial.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
We would choose Far Away. This track reflects the atmosphere of the release very precisely - a combination of melody, depth, symphonic scale, and inner tension. It represents the overall mood and character of the project.
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD?
There is no direct or explicit message. However, the release is built around the idea of inner movement forward, development, and transformation. It is not a conceptual manifesto, but rather a sense of process - motion, renewal, and transition into a new phase without destroying the previous one.
6. Are there some lyrics that you’d love to share?
For us, the overall perception of the lyrics is more important than individual lines. They create atmosphere and emotional space rather than deliver direct statements. The lyrics function as part of the whole picture, together with the music, arrangements, and vocal interpretations.
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album?
The inspiration was primarily musical and conceptual - symphonic metal, atmosphere, melody, compositional structure, and the evolution of the project’s sound.
People who made this release possible: Patrick Reos, Ares Schwarz, Marcel van Kuijk, Mike de Coene, and Arthur Geraskov.
Guest vocalists: Dantell, Peter Hirsch, Peter Berends, Mariska Blaas, Tanja Hansen, Gabriel Carvalho.
8. Something to add?
This release is a stage in the development of the project, not a final point. We are not trying to follow trends or formats - we are developing our own sound and language as a project. It is important for us to preserve the identity of DemUnillusions while expanding its musical boundaries.
