Interviews About Albums: Vanishment - ...And Now We Die (2026)
In this new interview, we sat down with the American Heavy Metal/Thrash Metal band, Vanishment, to ask questions about their album "...And Now We Die".
1. What can you say about And Now We Die?
Woz: “...And Now We Die” is our second full-length album, and our first on M-Theory
Audio. We are super stoked for this new partnership. The album was recorded at The
Unknown in Anacortes, Washington, about 90 minutes north of Seattle. It’s an old
Croatian church that was converted into a massive recording studio–or maybe “hall” is
the appropriate word? They have an amazing collection of instruments there, and of
course, the sound is incredible. The album was subsequently mastered by the
legendary Alan Douches.
2. What is the meaning of the And Now We Die name?
Woz: It’s a reference to lyrics in the song “Die In My Shelter”. We did something similar
on our first album, “No More Torture”. That’s actually a line from the song “Death Calls”
on that album. In both cases, for me, those lyrics just seemed emblematic of not only
the respective album’s vibes, but also what was going on in the world in general at the
time of writing.
3. Which one is the composer of the And Now We Die?
Woz: Rob writes all of the lyrics. The music is a collaborative effort between the 5 of us.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
Woz: “Conviction”. It’s a lot of fun to play on drums. And all of our favorite genres get
some love. There’s some thrash, some hardcore, some groove…it’s all there!
5. Is there a special message in And Now We Die? If there is what it is?
Rob: I wouldn’t say there is a specific overall message. Each song has its own place on
the album, exploring subjects that range from religion and war to death and inner
struggles with life.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
Rob: Sure, here are the main lyrics to Die in My Shelter. Line them up scattered fallen -
too many lives to care at all - your conviction is appealing - was it a game or deep
hatred that is calling - as we lie in the shelter - never safe only wanted to be free - as we
die in my shelter - I'm not brave I'm not going away - imposing presence fog our border -
darkness streams from blackened sky - haze and misery abuse from where I speak - as
the days grow longer - death is granted - piercing from the night you've seen it all before
- death is granted - rotting in the soil lost from forgotten pain - and now we die.
7. Which inspirations have been important for And Now We Die? Like musically or friends,
family, someone you'd love to thank especially?
Woz: In terms of outside influences, it’s usually whatever albums I have in my rotation at
the time. We wrote a lot of these songs in late 2023 and into early 2024. Around that
time, I was spinning “The Night They Came Home” by Mr. Bungle, “72 Seasons” by
Metallica, and “Endling” by Kvelertak a lot, and I think you can hear those influences in
certain parts of this album. But my greatest source of inspiration is always the four
other fine gentlemen in this band.
8. Something to add?
Woz: “...And Now We Die” drops on January 23rd, 2026, on all the major streaming
platforms. Also be sure to stop by our Bandcamp page and get yourself a copy on CD,
vinyl, and/or cassette!
